My TT As A Winter Beater.....

Location: Boston

My TT is my daily driver (only car I currently own) and I intend to drive it during the winter too. I'm thinking the AWD and some winter tires should keep me safe. I currently have All seasons. What winter tires out there would you guys recommend ? What things should I do or look out for in preparation ?

Thanks guys

Ramone- Why not just pick up a cheap "beater" car like a subaru or jeep. You could have one for not much more than the price of your winter tires. Just a thought...

The TT's make a fairly decent car in the winter with the right snow tires.

Call me. The Pirelli Winter 240 Snow Sport is available in sizing to fit stock TT wheels.

I will be using my car in the winter as well. Fortunatly for me I really don't need to go anywhere if there is a storm, so I can just chill at home and wait for the roads to clear.

I would imagine it should do fine...just watch out for salt in the roads, and other drivers...

Same with me. I barely drove in the snow past winter (Boston).

Yeah I was going to use my newly bought TT this winter as well. BUT... my car is too nice to have abused by the salty and dirty roads of the Northeast.
Im afraid the speed yellow paint will be abused even though Ive got multiple coats of zaino on it and 3m clear protection on the front and other areas.
Im gonna pick up a winter beater car for like 3k and use that for 3 months. Driving the beater for 3 months will save my car on mileage and abuse. It will also make me yearn for my TT even more!

How do I find out what the best snow tires are for my car ?

Also will the salt damage anything else besides the paint on my car ? I mean will undercarriage and internals be damaged and rusted or will they be fine if I take them to the garage at the end of the season to be oiled and cleaned ?

Apreciate the responses guys. Thanks

id just buy a winter beater for $3k.

the TT is great in the snow...but why?

imagine how much a fender bender in the snow will cost you...then you'll be out a car for 2-3 months witing for parts...

easy for me to say...I forgot what snow looks like!!

Woohoo!
