So I bring the TT in to the Blue Whale In LA on Westwood because it rained this morning and I made the mistake of parking under some trees...muddy drops all over it..normally I would have used my detailer but he had no time today. I paid the $30 for the "VIP" handwash - basically a 5 minute wash and dry to avoid any machine brush issues.

No problem right? As I'm walking up to drive it away, the guy cleaning the interior of the Orange Gallardo parked right next to me just pushed the door open and WHAM!!!! right into my driver's side door.....I think I actually screamed. Now I have a small, but definately noticable, ding. On top of that there is a large scratch by the rear window that I know was not there before, but I was not lucky enough to actually see happen, so tough ****. After much drama confirming what I SAW THE GUY DO, I have to call the owner on monday yadda yadda. I'm assuming it can be pulled out...but damn I am annoyed right now.

ouch, you should have them replace the entire door. a buddy of myn lost his door (literally) when they were pulling his S4 out of the drying bay (car was in neutral with the door open) - yikes!

I owned a car wash for 10 years. I always repaired any damage that I knew we caused. Accidents happen, ($5 per hr employees) but make sure they repair it to your satisfaction!!

I know that's killing you. But fortunately you witnessed the incident. Let's hope they man up and do the right thing. I've been there myself so I know how you feel. Be persistent and patient. Good luck with that

do yourself a favor and call Dent Wizard or another large franchise like it in your area. They'll charge you ~$100 and it'll be popped out and polished as good as new. I had an old lady open her SUV door on my 930 driver rear QP creating a V dent about an inch tall! the guy squared it away in about 30 minutes. IMHO trying to get a new door etc will just cause you heartache and aggravation. good luck

If my detailer can't show up, I will wash it myself. Never go to a car wash, do it your self if you can.

I went ahead with the paintless dent removal pro's on my rear flare. WOW, I am impressed. My dent was pretty good size in 2 areas with high spots. I removed the tire/wheel, plastic inner liner and the metal shield to get to the dents. These guys from 'Dents Out Plus' went to work at my house and in 45 minutes you couldn't tell where the dents were! And they polished the area which would have shown any imperfections. If you need dents or windshields fixed, and are in the southern California area, call Rich DiMassa at 310-523-9455 or 800-437-0777, he will come to your house or business. Any questions please ask.

The scratch near your rear window was most likely caused by the rear wiper as it fell back toward the glass in a upside down position.

I learned a long time ago that I would rather let my car go through a whole torrential winter of mud and snow to wash and care for it on my own than let a bunch of idiots haphazardly flog their way through to the next car,, just for the sake of an hourly wage.

Been there, done that.

Sorry that happened to you. But the learning curve can be short or long depending on how desperate you are.

I prefer to use a bay at one of the do it yourself carwashes even for a quicky ...wash er down and dry her with a waffle microfiber in and out in 20 mins...

Paintless dent removal is the way to go.

My car is well known in my office (which is small) and sure enough, I was leaving my office one night when I noticed a door ding on the driver's side from one of my co-workers.

Don't sweat the small stuff and call a paintless dent removal company - they are quick and will come to your office or home to take care of the ding.

It's all good.

My 335I was caught in a hail storm last year. Some parts were replaced and repainted others were repaired with PDR. The parts like the trunk lid that had PDR are perfect. I was quite impressed with what could be done and wish they could have done the whole car but some areas did not allow the appropriate access. Find a person in your area that has a good reputation with PDR as it is all about the person doing the work.
