A/C would be the LAST thing I'd take out! Living in CA and being old ... I actually put the A/C back in my Challenge car because I drive it on the streets. I'd say take out the useless stuff like the AWD, the sunrood is really easy to do on these car and cheap, once you get the roof skin off everthing else comes out with 4 bolts. The most expensive part is the new headliner. Gut the interior and start over with light weight carpet and blank door panels... I'd just leave the power window. Then the ti starts. All your nuts and bolt change to ti. in some cases you can use hollow ti bolts. Do away with all kinds of brackets no longer needed. There is a lot of weight in the engine that can go away... just depends how far you want to go. Rebuild a new wiring harness ... and don't think all this stuff hasn't been done before. Might sound crazy but there is 100's pounds that can come out of these cars. Some weights more expensive than others

Transplant the sharktronicmotor into one of these... It is a new GT3 cup car w/250 miles which is at my friends shop in Laguna Seca, we went around the track once, and it felt like a 200lb go-kart. Who needs stinky carpet anyways, just hose it out every few months.

Maybe 2 years ago someone posted a full carbon fiber body for the 996 on Rennlist, it came in at 83 lbs total. Look up Robert Linton I am sure he could offer suggestions on how to bring down the weight.

...

An expensive alternative would be the CF body kit offered by Manthey Racing. Sheds off 63 kgs. That´s 140 lbs! The only bad thing about it is, that it´ll make your wallet even lighter than the car itself

Why not buy a GT2?

Straight away you've saved 100kg - 170kg (220lb - 360lb) depending on model year........

That light weight body you were referring to is made by Kelly-Moss Motorsports, it's really nice stuff. But, if you're talking TT, this is a proper light weight

Holy cow some of these are way serious. I was trying to keep to being stree-safe (forget legal lol) and the CF body would worry me. However having looked around there are a couple of pieces today that I might take off. The front and rear 5mph bumper bars for starters...

remove all glass windows. wear a helmut.

drill sandollar sized holes into the body and turn it into a space frame.

those will save u a thousand pounds.
