The Gallardo is a nice front end looking machine, the end is awful and needs work, the fact they took out the lambo trademark doors is really ashame. When people think lambos they automatically think "the doors, the price" its that simple. I dont think they made a good decsion with the doors.
Oh well!

thank goodness they have a 360 competitor, Ferrari is a rip off relative to the Gallardo
.
I saw a yellow metallic Gallardo in Houston this past weekend. I thought the car looked fantastic. It definately screamed exotic car. My only criticism is the "cab forward" look. The hood is very short giving the impression that the windshield sits over the front wheels.
darren nailed it -- that bizarre rear end. i had ordered 1, and cancelled when i saw the first photos... but it has allure.
it's only 2 secs faster at the Nring than a gt3 for 70 less, and 6 sec slower than a gt2 for the same $$$. and the brakes will presumable fade and need to be cooled after 4 laps like the murci

Horrible looking CD player/climate controls but this is my favorite color combo I've seen so far.

I don't think the doors can be compared to the Miura, they don't have the bull horn effect goin on. I'd prefer the scissor doors anyway.

As a completely loyal nut of "older" 911's, I kinda like the looks of the baby Lambo. I like the looks of it alot more than its big brother. Actually I think its big brother is a bit tacky all around. The Galardo is so much better of a looking car than any previous Lambs I have seen. I also prefer the doors opening in a normal way. The biggest thing that bothers me about the car is its interior. It looks very cheap . There are about 5 of these in my imediate area of various colors. I have not seen a color on one that looks bad, and I never think they are a poor mans Lambo.
But unless I had money to burn I would not own one. But thats just me. If I was without a budget I would own one of everything Porsche ever built, race and street. Hell I would have a hard time deciding what to drive to the corner store.....the GT1, or the 908, perhaps Ill take the 917K for a short blast to the cleaners.
JMHO, I am always going to love an old air/oil cooled lightweight screamer over "anything" made. So if it floats your boat then get one. It is a very sexy car.

Where were they 5 years ago?
The Murci can't fairly be compared to the Maranello, Because they are two completely different cars. I hate when I hear that comparison. The Aston Vanquish, and even the TVR Tusken are closer competitors. As far as being a rip off, a pre-owned 360 is a bargain at 130k
if you ask me. Its closest rival is a stock TT, Which is just a shade quicker.
BTW, I love the Gallardo but who the hell uses cassette tapes????? Shouldn't they be in a museum?
I really don't see such a problem with the rear...The car is a tight, concise looking package and is not too shabby, imho. I think a nice CF custom fab GTS style wing may just be what's needed to set the rear of the car off and may be the perfect solution to completing the car's design.
Reliability and everyday driveablity characteristics of this car make it very appealing. I guess that can be attributed to Audi's influence. Something I believe Ferrari and other Lambo's have a problem delivering.

IMHO.
"Reliability and everyday driveablity" - not proven.
"As for comparing it to a 360, there is no comparison, in any area." - except for the fact that the 360 is drop dead gorgeous, even more so compared to this.
also those wheels remind me of ugly *** spinners I've seen on some ghetto Escalades.
lastly, I think the Gallardo will have the image of a poor man's lambo, which of course is wrong as it is very expensive, but that's the image it conveys to me. Looks too similar to the Murc to be thought of anything except the Murc's stunted ugly brother. I just met with one of my friends yesterday who owns plenty of sports cars including a CGT on order and previously 2 Diablos and he laughed, honestly laughed out loud, when the topic of Gallardo came up. I personally wouldn't want to spend $170k to have that kind of image.

I don't see the reason for all the snooty remarks about the Gallardo being poor man's lambo etc...So with this logic someone who owns a boxter isnt worth ****, while many pros claim the boxter to be one of the worlds best handling cars , period. Yes I own a Turbo but always respect a Boxter owner and give him/her a thumbs up on the road. My point is who cares what others thinks, if someone likes the car go for it. Also I firmly believe the 360 succesor will not outperform the Gallardo. I love the 360 was very close to buing a used Yellow/bl 99 with 7K miles but went for turbo because of reliability. I will bet anything, the Gallardo is ages ahead of 360 with regards to maintenance and reliability (1st yr glitches aside) , theres Audi for you.
