Silk Car Cover

does anyone know ehre i could purchase that silk type car cover that comes standard with a ferrari or lambo but does not come with a porsche? its similar to GRUSSEL's cover on his new GT3 cup shown in his pics in the GT/GT2/GT3 forum.

can you special order one from porsche for a 993 and the 996TT or do you buy them from an indepedent?

Thanks guys

I have this one:
http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/me...de=99704400006
http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/me..._Code=997cover

It has the Crest on the hood, 996 Turbo (Script) centered on the front on the lower section and PORSCHE (Script logo) in the rear. It is a soft indoor cover. They make one for the 996 TT but it is not shown on their site. It is a Tequipment cover and does come with a Black/Silver Porsche Duffel bag with logos. (For cover storage)

to me the logo is kinda lame...i know whats under it. That factory black one looks like a fat girl crammed into jeans that are 2 sizes too small.

I love the cover i bought for mine. i just bought a new one from CoverKing. It was $275 brand new. 2-tone silver & black. I looked for used for about 6 months and it was a nightmare to figure out if they were for a turbo or not, and if it was universal fit or custom fit (which i wanted). Took about 5 days to arrive.

My cover is a CoverKing Storm Proof. Their top of the line. its very soft and 'silky'. Fit is PERFECT. Here is info on it: http://www.coverking.com/customcarcoversp.html#

I bought mine from http://www.ajusa.com

They had the best price. It was drop shipped direct from CoverKing.

Hope this helps. I can send photos of it if you want to see it on the car.

I use Coverking as well. They fit really well, but I am looking for something thicker. I have a close friend that has a really nice "thick" car cover for both of his vintage Porsches. I cant think of the brand name. I will have to ask him again today. They must be good if he has them on a 56 Cab and 69 911s.

sandoval, is your cover, silky on top and felt-like on the inside? or is just a soft material?

Yep that would describe it Silky on the outside and felt like on the inide. It is a very nice cover and fits perfectly. It is for indoor use only. The fabric is a little stretchy.

The ones you are asking about are made in Italy (where else) by a company called CoverCar by Andrea. It is their "Class" model, designed for indoor use. Comes with its own storage bag. They have a web site that gives you the details:

http://www.covercar.it/html_ing/ing_copriauto.htm

It looks like you can order from them directly, which might give you the option of deleting the insignia, although the interface is pretty clunky. Given how Italian-challenged I am, I got mine from Gert.

Hey Guys,

Chas from AJUSA here to give you the low down on some of the highest quality, US made car covers for your car. These covers are what our customer with highend and collector cars buy. If you would like samples, you can ask me and I will send you whatever swatch you'd like.

Thanks

For more info, check out www.supercarcovers.com, they have a great lookup for carcovers.

FOR INDOOR USE:

Covercraft Form-Fit Custom Fit Car Cover
Our most LUXURIOUS indoor cover...

Designed for cars that are not daily drivers, Covercraft's new Form-Fit covers provide a body-hugging fit & a super soft inside to pamper fine paint finishes.

They start with an outer shell of woven polyester that has Lycra/Spandex® added to the yarns to provide STRETCH and memory - the stretch provides the body-hugging fit and the memory assures the cover will retain its shape over an extended period of time (they have a 4-year warranty).
For easy cleaning, the Form Fit Car Cover is machine-washable at home. The Form Fit Car Cover is equipped with grommets for a tie-down cable and your antenna.

The inside fibers are 100% cotton terry loop which is sheared to a fleece-like finish. The end result is a 7.4 oz sq. yd. material that has a great "hand", or feel.
This cover will provide some ding & dent protection for a garage parked vehicle and the fabric is highly breathable to prevent vapor and heat from becoming trapped under the cover.

Coverking Stretch Satin Custom Vehicle Cover

Coverking's Stretch Satin Custom Car Covers are made for vehicles parked indoors, and for owners who want nothing but the best for their vehicle.
There is no alternative, available from any supplier, for this cover.
Call or email me and ask for a swatch of our Stretch Satin material, and you'll agree - the face feels like lingerie. The material has Lycra fibers for stretch in both directions, mirroring every perfect contour of your vehicle. And the inner liner is the softest fleece we've been able to find - specially designed not to rub off on convertible tops. It is available in solid color designs, including Black, Steel Gray, Pearl White, Burgundy Red, Dark Blue, Fly Yellow, Tan, and Forest Green.

Using this material to make covers the way some companies do, chopped up into small pieces to save a few dollars would be a crime. Coverking uses the exclusive Coverking Fewest Seams design, many times limiting the pattern to only three seams. All stitching is done using the blind stitch, hiding all thread.
