A good boost gauge.
i've said it before. get a datalogger. it's 1000x more useful than standard gauges.
check out the zeitronix stuff. they've been using it over at rennlist forever. who's got time to look at your gauges while you're running to redline through the gears?
the zeitronix gives you the best of both worlds in a cost effective unit and allows you monitor far more sensors than gauges you could try and cram in the factory dash area. once you put all that data on a graph and overlap it, you'll see how much easier it is to diagnose problems or make improvements.

Will this work if some of us want real time oil temp/press and water temp on the track?

Dog, a datalogger is great if your a track adict, IMHO, besides once your car is tuned properly most of the stuff you dont need. I just wanted he basics
just in case **** happens, I get warned first (high oil temps, over boost,
low fuel prssure).

however, the zeitronix main display only does boost, af, lambda, and egts. the datalogging pack does a whole bunch more which you can see "live" on your laptop display. i believe the zeitronix unit allows you to pick an extra sensor of your choice to add to the datalog screen, so in theory, you could monitor oil pressure or whatever. my datalog screen (which is live as the laptop has to be plugged in to datalog, you have the option to record it) shows the above four variables on the display as well as TPS, RPM, and there something else i can't remember.
if you only want to look at real time sensor values off the car's ECU, might i suggest the enginuity software package. you can read all the computers sensors real time and datalog them as well. the turbos have a lot more sensors available than the NA's cars and supposedly you can pick up AF readings, etc.... also comes with performance meauring software and on top of that will allow you to check CEL's and clear them. great piece of software. i've been using it for a while now in conjunction with the zeitronix stuff.
great way to see if that new $600 intake really works. you can actually measure intake temp and air velocity. you can also look at fuel trims, etc... which i have no idea what any of that means

gauges combined with a datalogger are what anybody with a highly tuned car needs.
say you're at the track or on the dyno, this allows you to see it real time with the gauges, if you can take your head down long enough to look, or review the data after your run to what is doing what and when.
i could see it especially helpful for those with turbos and custom ECU tunes. you could put it on the dyno. run it and datalog. send the file to your tuner for review. or conversely, when your car is running like dog ****, you can again, send the file to your tuner.
as my car is in a extreme state of tune for 996 C2 (supercharged), the zeitronix combined with the enginuity software has been very helpful.
if you've got a vanilla stock TT and don't run your car hard, then i wouldn't bother with any of this stuff. however if you're a track or dyno monkey and you're heavily modded, you'll find this stuff is great.

, then get the data logger
.
