Unhappy OUCH! Over $350 for an oil change!

I just paid over $350 for an oil change and some annual maintenance (looks like some basic fluid checks). I know, why complain about it if I willingly paid for it? I felt obligated to use the dealer because I'm still under CPO warranty. 10 qts of oil at almost $10/qt -- the same oil I bought at WalMart for $5.50/qt -- plus filter and some O-rings, plus labor. Maybe there's something magical about a "Porsche factory trained technician" as he pours out the oil?

I'm curious how much have you paid for this annual glorified oil change at the dealership?

Would your dealer get offended if you bought the oil and filter at walmart and then paid him for only labor? I know some people like to bring in their own oil and the dealer dosent care.

I pay $250 and it is really considered a minor service not just an oil change. If you are going by the recommended intervals still not too bad.
Mine is done monthly due to track events, as well as the brake fluid and transmission fluid, so I wouldnt worry if I were you.

Find a good independant who has referrals from other owners. Shop around, even different dealers. Get to know a service advisor, ask for the oil change only price. Most of the 'point checks' are nothing but pure profit to make the invoice look like they spent tons of time on it and thus can charge you 2 hrs labor for it.

My wife asked a porsche dealer about maint. on a boxster and she was told that not only was it $400, but if she did it herself or had it done at a non-dealer facility, it would void the warranty. She was like, wow, way to not sell the car... and left.

$350 sounds about right for an authorized Porsche Service Center. I don't know how much could be saved by going to a non-authorized specialist, but it's probably worth checking into...

It's a litte high IMO. But I would have someone that knows what there doing looking at my car. Especially if it s under warrenty maybe they'll see something else while there under there you never know. Besides what other car out there that can compete for that price in maitnence?!!?

it's on the high side. 15k mile service is right around that price so it can't just be an oil change.

Having factory service does go well with resale, but at 350 an oil change i'd be looking into a reputable independant shop. And bringing your own oil in def. won't go over well with any dealer, you'll likely just get hit with a huge charge for basically filling the oil, if they do it at all.
