OUCH! Over $350 for an oil change!
There is no obligation to use the dealer to keep the warranty (CPO or original new car) in effect. Magnuson Moss Consumer Products Warranty Act says you must use the dealer only where you don't pay for the service, otherwise you can use any supplier and not affect the validity of the warranty.
Theres also a difference between an annual service and just on oil change, there are some checks, radiator inlets are cleaned of debris, all control units checked for fault memories as well.
Just did the low mileage service (includes oil change and various checks) for a little less than $300 at Carlsen. The estimate at service write up was $350 so I guess I'm happy, sort of.
Thanks, Brian.

Big deal you spent an extra $150. Don't feel bad about it. I bought my oil at pep boys, almost $80, than filter and O-ring almost $20 and paid some shop $85 to do it and here I go out almost $200. I would not do it again and it is not worth my time and all the hassle.
Yeah, well.......MM Act is not always easy to enforce. I had a major Ford Dealer (T. Robbins in Costa Mesa) deny my warrenty for a leaking turbo seal on my 2001 Powerstroke. Their Diesel Tech told the service writer that because I had changed the exhaust to a 4"....it generated MORE heat and baked the seal.....lunacy! Anybody who knows ANYTHING about diesels would know that increasing the size of the exhaust will only DECREASE exaust temps.......then he had the ***** to tell me....well......we could void your warrenty because you have a lift kit....when I informed him of Magnusson Moss......he shrugged and said ......."Take us to court"
Nice......you know where I will never buy from again.

Just got quoted 350$ by Porsche of Fremont for yearly service, including oil change. To me, the oil change is a formality (Porsche does not even recommend it yearly, manual says 2y/15kmi), but if having the rest of the car checked according to their checklist is important to you, paying for an hour or so of labour does not sound like wasted money.
