Cool Day at the Dragstrip today!!

Everything does not go exactly as planned .

I hop in my car at 6 am this morning to meet some fellow
Viper guys and head to the dragstrip. Go into my top secret compartment
and pull out my Greddy Boost Controller and it IS NOT LIT UP .
WTF, it worked fine yesterday during some practice launches??
I am full of race fuel, have my (1) day old firesuit/high tops and I cannot
even run on "low boost". I am on the waste gate springs...fricking fabulous.
So here it goes: .8 bar at full tilt (.9 bar peak), hope I don't Kaboom it... .

11.6 @ 122.53 mph
1.939 60 ft. (The locals call Rock Falls "Slippery Rock" )

So, basically with no high boost my car is sort of like a "stage 4",
feels lame after getting used to the 1.35 bar!

(4) of us went
King Louie (2003 SRT-10 Viper with Paxton/heads,rods,cam,etc= 730 rwhp)
Big Keith (1999 GTS-Coupe Viper with Roe SC/meth inj/headers, drag radials = 640 rwhp)
Carver (2007 Z06/stock)
Me @ ??? rwhp ??

On the way to the strip, I ran the Z06 twice @ .8 bar; same results,
We were dead even, I mean dead even 2-5th gear!
(He was unable to run at the drags but in theory would have been somewhere around 11.6?)

We checked power to the Greddy, it had power and ground, apparently the
3 month old unit just died .

Frantic calls to Markski and Divexx made no difference, the unit was DOA.

We had fun anyway, in our little power squadron on the way there.

BTW: NOS Busa's (several) running 9 flats at 155 mph, yow!

RCNJ is infamous around these parts
Damn! That sucks! Sorry to here that Marty. Not bad for .8 bar though.
It must of felt great to be door to door with the Z06 and knowing you had so much more power on reserve.

Marty,

Oh, man! How frustrating. I thought you would hit 10's today...after all the preparation (mental and phsyical) that goes into planning a track day - it's unfortunate that had to happen. But it gives you a good reason to try again and it's all for fun. How did your car feel when launching? And what type of RPM's did you launch at?

Sorry to hear Marty! I swear sometimes when you mention the track around cars they freak out. Hopefully it will all be in working order next time out.

John,

Cars are sort of complicated to launch; it is either "up in smoke"
or like leaving like you have an egg in the car (slowly).
Next time I will show these guys what a Porsche can do.

Press the mode button for 2 seconds... maybe it is turned off.( its the top button). It may have been turned off by accident from the low to high switching...
good run either way.

Mark,

We tried pressing and holding every button (I did it 10-20 times on the
two hour drive), you can imagine my disappointment.

My buddy just got home:
99 GTS with Roe/SC 10 lbs boost.
11.04 @ 130 "at the Slippery Rock"

keyser_soze has a spectacular aura aboutkeyser_soze has a spectacular aura about
nice times on low boost. regarding your boost controller. I've been using a Profec B II for few years and once the unit went bad...i send it back to Greddy through my authorized Greddy dealer and it was warrantied n/p, it did take some time though....what i did was i hooked up the vacume line from compressor discharge directly to the wastegate...this way the car made MIN/no-boost.

When you say u ran off the spring i'm not sure what you mean, if you just pulled the vacume line...it be making max boost...unless your wastegate actuator is like some Forge units when on boost it can hold tighter. but most other actuators and boost controllers use the boost pressure and solonoid to open the waste gate not to keep it shut.
