thats what a few smarter guys then I told me...
but then not all tuning kits are alike...
there has been only a handful of bent rods... and they were boosting about 1.5 bars or higher with larger turbos....
the trick is to have a system that can produce the HP figures at lower levels ..
so u run bigger(not huge) turbos with less boost.. thus requiring less fuel...
then u do some decent piping and cooling to add efficiency.... thats it...
its more obvious then we tend to believe...

Steve, if you ever make it to the dyno , ask the operator to put a thermocouple in the IC inlet. I drove my car on the dyno last week and had my hand out the window feeling the air blowing out the IC inlet... since fans were blowing in the IC outlet. When I got into the boost , the air felt like a hairdryer. We had a starting temp of 67deg and when we finished the run it was 180deg. I would love to see how those big IC's would do in a similar test. Kevin

Mark, the y-pipe is new and wasn't on there when it was a 700.I had the 76 mm tb and modded stock y-pipe before but with no software change for it.I just bolted them on and didn't know there was a software change that would help me utilize the new hardware.Oh well, live and learn.

Joe - I hae the modded stock Y-Pipe & 76mm TB. Do you think there is any bennefit going to the enlarged Y-Pipe? Does it use the same file as the modded OEM Y-Pipe?

Thanks, Mike

I don't think it can hurt and I would do it in conjunction with Evoms larger intercoolers,if you haven't done them already, because it requires the boost hoses for the larger intercoolers(no o-ring).I don't think it requires different programming but you should ask Todd,Sharkster or PorschePHD(Stephan).Looks cool as hell though!!

Your power is no stronger than it's weakest link. In order to make power with a weak link you have to increase boost.

Intake air capacity, IC efficiency, hard piping size vs hoses, Y pipe size, throttle body size, splitter vs plenum, intake ports, valve size, cam lift/duration, exhaust are all links. If they are not matched all you do is create an obstruction or dam which requires additional boost to make more power. If you happen to be improving the weak link, you will make power up to the point of the next weak link. That's why a motor that creates more or equal power at a lower boost is a better or more efficient motor.

It is rather comical to watch people beef up one are only to find a restriction in another without given thought to the air flow of each individual component. These motors are really nothing more than an air pump with fuel added in the proper proportion of air or oxygen.

The real question comes down to was your motor designed or is it one guess after another?
