Does anyone know the porsche part number for the upper wing removal tool. I'd like to remove the upper wing. Thanks.

Greast question....I ordered a Roock wing and splitter a week ago and it is due here on Wed.

Is there another 'off the shelf' tool that will work to remove the wing? Somebody's had to come up with something trick

Thanks.

The rear wing is a PITA to remove. When I first attempted getting one off I was afraid of braking the unit. I ended up using an old fan belt to get some grip and turning each cylinder individually. You do not want to scuff the cylinder, so be careful when using a monkey wrench of some sort. I ended up finding out that the Roock wing I was removing had been lock tighted into place by the installer. I am assuming Porsche techs have some sort of tool that makes this an easy ten minute job but I am not sure.

I think an ajustable rubber jar opener would work well.

Yes, that spanner wrench would indeed make removal a lot easier.

WMP:

Indeed it does but it has that special insert that fits into the hole in the hydraulic cylinder on the wing. The suspension spanner wrenches usually have a block like insert that fits into the coil over height adjustment mechanisim.

I still have Stephen's tool here (man that sounded odd lol!) and since you're local you're welcome to give it a shot.

That's great!
I ordered the wrench yesterday....it will be here today!

Has anybody actually removed the wing though?

I need some step by step directions on removing the wing with or without the tool.

Thx.

I removed the wing about a year or so ago. Here is what I remember...

- raise the wing using the switch on the dash and shut car off
- cover surrounding area to ensure you do not scratch rear deck
- find hole in cylinder to place end of spanner wrench and turn counter clockwise while holding onto rear wing
- the cylinder should screw right out of the stock wing
- after removing the wing, repeat the process in order to install the new wing

Hope this helps. If anyone has any more in depth info on the procedure, please share it with everyone.
