996 TT MEF problem??

I have a 996TT with an k&N airfilter. Couldn't drive it to much in the last time so within the last 6 months the battery went dead 4 times. I took the car out today and had to learn, when it was warm that it nearly never reaches more than 4000 rpm instead it fires strange and has no boost at all. Is it possible that over the time something happened to the Mef?? I have the car from the beginning(2001), and had never such problems. How can I clean the Mef??

Thanks

You mean MAF? If the MAF (mass air flow sensor) is blown cleaning it wil not help. I know many have posted about cleaning it, but I have not seen any measured improvement by doing this. If you are are not getting cels, perhaps your plugs need changing? For the MAF procedure:

If your K&N has been over oiled, it could be messing up your MAF. That being said, I am using a K&N filter in the OEM air box without issue.

Jap, MEF, sorry, was to late yesterday. Thanks for the link. Two more questions, what should I take to clean the K&N filter and is it possible to change the plugs by myself or have I to go to the service? ( didn't touch a wrench in a century, but would like to again).

killerbee is infamous around these parts
I think you mean limp mode...Or maybe its supposed to be funny. General rule is if you can't spell it then you probably do not know what it is and should just take it to the dealer.
