993tt vs Gt2

I am considering swithing from my nice modded 993tt (approx 600hp) to a GT2. There are several nice low milage ones available. Couple of questions for those who made the switch and future costs of the GT2's

I love the nimble quick feeling of my 993tt. Will this be lost with the GT2? I have driven some 996's and to me they felt kinda boaty.

What is a fair price for a low milage GT2? Will the prices fall even more once the new GT2 arrives?

Should I get a 997 instead of the GT2? Prices are pretty close/

Tom,

"vincentdds" has a 3.8 993TT and a GT2. You might want to PM him.

Tom,

Is it fair to assume you mean a 996 GT2?
or is it a 993 GT2?

Go watercooled GT2, it would be impossible to regret in anyway expecially
where they have depreciated to compared to any 997. But that is really
beside the point: the 996 GT2 is my favorite all time car (to drive)!!
oh, and the mod capabilities...
oh, and they come with your "requisite K-24's"

Tom,

I made this move almost 2 years ago. I had a '96TT and purchased an '02
GT2. NO regrets here at all!! After seeing the new 997TT, I am extremely happy I did not get one and instead went with my gut for the GT2.
As my dealer says, "The Gt2 should be the poster car for the 911"

As far as prices go, if you are like me, you will pay a fair amount for the right car. Try not to get hung up on what people speculate about future depreciation...just buy the car you want.

On the flip side, the 997's will undoubtly depreciate just like the 996 so let someone else take the hit...but I am just speculating

Bets of luck with your search,
Pete

K24madness,
I can tell you that getting a GT2 would NEVER be a mistake.
As far as the ride compared to a 993TT I cant reply, as stated Vince would be your best source. NOTHING drives like the GT2 no Porsche (stock) I have come across. Good luck and hope you get one soon and dont let her go.
Compared to a 997TT, there isnt any comparison. They are totally different animals.

Can you please elaborate???

I was in a GT2 yesterday doing some data logging. I love how planted it feels at speed were as my 993tt is kinda twitchy. Nervous would be a good description. The Gt2 feel kinda big to me but solid. I was wondering if I might give up the sporty feel of the smaller 993 and regret the decision. The 997 on the other hand looks like halfway between the 997 and the 996.

The GT2 in my book a nervous, twitchy, MONSTER. Its so much like the "old" turbos in that respect in such in that it DEMANDS your attention when driven hard. The payoff when u get used to the car is phenomenal.
There is no PSM, PASM, just ABS and that is all. You snap the GT2 and she will bite back until you learn her limits. The 997TT is oposite of that, you can nail it in a turn and the electronics take over, even with the PASM off its still a four wheel drive car and will not let you make a big mistake as much as a GT2, WILL.
The 997TT you can drive everyday and if you get snow tires even when there is a blizzard out, the GT2 you cant drive everyday, period.

Best way I can put it to you is like this, if I could of worked it out I would have taken the GT2 over all the 997TT out there, but I couldnt of and even though I love my 997TT it will never replace a GT2, it wasnt meant to and it never will. That isn't the point of a 997TT its a great everyday SUPERCAR that does everything well, whether you drive it normal or if you hit the sport button it will listen to you. Oh and BTW, with the suspension on SPORT mode the 997TT feels as stiff if not stiffer than my old GT2.

Hope it helps but your gutt feeling will tell you which one you must have.

Tom, lemme know you need to get rid of your gt35's
Do they kick in like an old supra (laggy) compared to your old super 60's? Running T04E 46 compressors currently.

Tom,
Since noone touched on the price question yet....You are right, prices have come down and I can only expect them to come down further. It seems there is a pretty solid supply of decent GT2s right now and no buyers, at least not at the sellers price levels. This is a good time to be in the market for one. You have choice and negotiation power.
