cpu77 is infamous around these parts
So with the x50 with just a exhaust and a chip I should be at 500AWDHP not RWD? What do you think money wise that would take. A upsolute chip is say $700 and a exhaust is maybe $1500?

Depends what you want. A good exhaust (europipe, techart, cargraphic ect..) will run $3500 ++. A good ecu or flash could run another 2-3k. But well worth the $$. What a difference a few grand makes!!

I woudl definitely take a hard look at the Remus exhaust. Great power, great sound at a great price.

You can def get up there with the K24's or even K16's with a freak chance, believe me! It will not be just ECU and exhaust though, all depends on tuning as well.

GIAC flash will run you around 2-2.5k, and you can always find a used exhaust in the for sale section for maybe 1.5-2k. That should get your x50 in the "neighborhood" of 500whp. Add some diverter valves and a BMC filter for good measure.

10k is crazy for a chip and exhaust! I would have the k24 turbo's with the x50 package. So what else is there?

$10k was including upgraded turbos. If you don't change turbos, you're talking about $2.5k-3k for ECu reprogram (no one really uses a chip anymore ...)and $3.5k for exhaust (about $2k if you buy used). Add in shipping and labor (for exhaust) and you're talking about $6k.

With an X50 you need a flash (about 3K), an exhaust (2K+), Diverter valves ($250) and Wastegate Spring Upgrade ($600?). The last one is optional, but after getting one I don't see why. It makes a big difference.

Add in labor for install and fine tuning of the wastegates. That should get you 500+ RWHP. Not sure what that will get you in terms of AWHP. Maybe 475?

This is very dependant on the car, the dyno and how the stars are aligned! Not to mention the difference between 91 and 93 octane fuel. I don't think there are too many K16 cars making 450awhp with these two simple upgrades on 91 octane.

If you want a true 475awhp you will need turbos (K24 or better) a good muffler and a GIAC flash. I would also look into larger intercoolers if you will be tracking the car.

i spent close to 20 gs on giac flash, euro pipe, evo's intercoolers s cargo headers,dvs,evo air box, evos hoses and kevan k 16s. have not got on a dyno yet but my tec told me the seat of pants and road marker acc it is faster than any of the f cars he has tested. could be smoke up my skirt . but it seems quite fast..

I was planning on doing most of labor myself. I have a lift and plenty of tools, so it should not be to bad? I mean it's just a exhaust right. I have done diverter valves on my audi's. They are very easy. I have done IC's also. However I am not sure how much of the car has to come apart for these mods. Does someone make a OBD2 flasher for these cars? As far fuel thinking 94 with a 32oz of Torco. Should be 101 I think.

It is becoming aparent that they really hit us hard for a quote limited production car. Not to compare the 2 but I have a 03 SVT Cobra. It's production numbers are very simmilar to the 996tt. However the prices to mod it are cheap. I actually have the most expensive exhaust they make on that car. It was $2100 with the headers. It is 304 Stainless and 3" piping. Does not include cats though. There is more metal in one header and one muffler than any of the aftermarket 996tt complete exhausts. Sorry for the obvoius complaint. After all I did not buy a 996tt for it's affordable modability. It's crazy though my SVT cobra comes with a underated 380RWHP. For just $1500 I put down over 471WHP and 505WTQ. It does make sense since the 996TT was 4x it's price it should cost 4x the amount to get the same power.

definitely - don't expect to buy a Porsche and have the mods cost as much as the domestics. If you really want bang for the buck performance, the P-car is not the way to go.

learn from there mistakes!! do it right the first time & you will save TIME,
MONEY & AGRAVATION! most of us including myself purchased flashes/tunes
& end up changing them! what a waist! do your homework-do it right!
