Check out this link. BTW, the link is not the source I am referring to in the above response. I saw this after I had heard the news from my friend about Porsche's plans for the Turbo.

Autospies is certainly no authority, but, I just thought it was funny that I had heard the same thing before this came out.

Tim--I can get a new 2004 with a July build. I want the car before then and simply wanted to know what I could get off list of any remaining 2003's in stock. I also wanted to know if anyone knows of any 2004 turbos that are either in stock or not claimed coming soon, i.e. way before july build.

Lou, It's not fast but if you go under the PCNA web site, go under dealers, you can look at exactly what every dealer has. The list is surprisingly accurate. This will tell you nearly every car that is available, and you'll find precious few '04 coupes. The simple way is have your dealer pull the list of exactly what you are looking for.

Man, you're gonna take a big haircut to trade up for jsut 6,500 miles. Must be nice to be you.

Lou, As of last Friday Manhattan Motorcars had a spot available for an '04 coupe. If you call there, ask for Brian Miller (GM) and say you heard about it from Dr. Bill & Dr. Jim who were there last week for the Lotus Elise order.

We'll see. I paid $112,300.00 for my current car. I have heard they are only worth upper 90's or right at $100k now.

Edit---On the wholesale end of coarse

I thought about that. Here's the thing, I constantly swap cars. I figure if I could last 1.5 more years with this turbo, I will either have 19k miles on an 03 or 12k? Gotta be a pretty big resale value difference, wouldn't you think?

Lou

Edit---I myself would easily pay $5000 more for a car with 6500 less miles. In other words, if I offered you $5000 to drive your car for the next 6500 miles, would you take it? I wouldn't. Just a thought.

Exactly. Then again, dealers do not think like I do. They may only give a guy with a 12k mile turbo $3k more, who knows. It presumes alot. I would have to be able to trade my car + $8-10k and then expect to be able to get $5k more on resale. That would be worth it to me. End result, I lose $3-5k morenfor a brand new car to use for 1.5-2 years. I still prefer an 04 obviously, but, dealers are not moving much on price and inventory is extremely low.

WOW, that is quite a bit more than we pay. I guess that is the price to pay for a strong euro.

Lou, your thinking seems sound but in reality it probably costs you some more b/c dealers always have a way of making more $ than you think they can. I don't know MM date, give them a call. I would doubt that at this moment in time a dealer would let a pretty rare 2004 Turbo go at anything other than close to list. Your only salvation would be to find a new or <1000 mile 2003 that just went into service and maybe you get into that for $7000 ish. They won't give you good $ for your car and if you sell it privately you lose the sales tax credit which is probably close to $9000. If you can find the right situation, it might pay to make you happy but why don't you just buy an extended warranty for your car just in case, and be done with it. I'm reasonably certain you will come out ahead that way.

Right you are. Went to two separate dealers, was offered 98-99 by both. 100k was a stretch according to both. Looks like it would cost me much more than initially expected. I have to hope even with the limited production, the 04's somehow sit. If they sit, someone could let one go for a little off list and an 04 is worth $7k more all day than an 03. Add the miles, you may be up to an additional worth of $9-10k. Not likely though. Another option I was throwing around was selling my car for $103-104 privately but, requiring the the buyer run it through my dealer at our set price. Best of both worlds scenario. More likely as I am undercutting the delusional dealer by 3-4k.
