Proper way to install GT3 seats

I am installing GT3 seats in my 996tt and I thought I had heard that there is an issue with getting an error code if you don't do something right. Is it as simple as don't turn the iginition on on something like that? Is there any thing else to watch out for?

I think you have to disconnect the battery first before removing your stock seats. Then once the seats are out and GT3's are in, connect the battery and you are ready to go.

This is what i did and had no lights come on.
Good luck

disconnect the battery and do not turn the ignition on with the seat wiring harness off or else you will get an airbag failure light

I know this is totally obvious, but make sure the doors are unlocked when you disconnect the battery and don't close the bonnet.

Thanks for the tips. I will unlock the doors, and disconnet the battery, but I don't want to close the Bonnet after I disconnect the battery or it will be a PIA to open it again correct?

Yeah you wouldnt want to close the bonnet, thats where the battery is and you wont be able to open it without battery power. Which will force you to charge/boost the battery so you can open the hood/onnet whatever you wanna call it.
Also after you disconnect battery, wait at least 3 minutes before disconnecting any connectors on the stock seats, this is needed for the diode to charge down, thats what I have been told in the past to do with any airbag systems.

I didnt disconnect the battery. but I didnt turn the ignition. follow these install steps they are awesome once complete THEN turn the key, you turn it early you better get a pst2. You wont have an airbag light.

good luck. It doesnt take long at all. Just make sure you have the right tool bit to unscrew the bolts from the stock seat. Its a flaring star bolt dont know the type.... Anyone know the type?

Be careful not to scrape the body sills with the seat tracks. After you have taken out all of the bolts, center the seat on the tracks. Then disconnects as asdvised above. Get the Brey-Krause replacement brackets if you are adverse to sitting at a 90 degree angle.

Am I too late?

I installed some GT3 seats earlier this week and everything went very smoothly - I even got the seatbelt wire connected correctly. Unfortunately, I didn't find this thread until I was finished and I got the Airbag Failure light. I now know I should have disconnected the battery during the install, but I didn't. Am I forever screwed or can it be fixed somehow?
