Hi Kevin,

that's certainly fine with me. I have one pending question with them and the right man to answer it is not in, as yet. My question concerns Z-axis acceleration. A. does it record it? and B. how can that data be retrieved?

The man I spoke with this AM said he "thinks" it does but will confirm and get back to me.

regards,

al

I can post a graph if you want but it is just a straight line...Kevin

That's good news. If I have studied the two devices properly, the Performance Box does everything the Driftbox does with the exception of calculating drift angles and then giving you a score. I would not need those features, because I have no plans to record how far I can hang the ***-end of my car out before it comes around on me.

Al, I am with you, but unfortunately the pbox wasnt available when I purchased. Besides, when I spin out out at the roadcourse... I dont want a score! I will give Jim Lau a call and see what he says. Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,

I just spoke with Jim at Racelogic and he said that it does not record vertical (Z-axis) acceleration. What it does record is changes in absolute altitude simultaneously with longitudinal/lateral acceleration or deceleration. That will show changes in actual feet above sea level during any run, or segment thereof. He is going to send me a couple of graphs that I will post later when I have the time. One additional comment about the capability of these little devices: everyone probably knows this already, but they also simultaneously record lat/long data. That certainly could have some implications.

The Performance Tools software in downloadable from the website for anyone who wants it. It would therefore seem feasible for us to transmit "select" data files to one another and each could dispay or graph it in a way of his or her choosing. So even without owning a box, the "select" data (as in no lat/long) could be shared with all and each would have the capability of graphing and analyzing it ad nauseum.

I volunteered to make the arrangements for the group buy because I have gleaned so much valuable info from my short time on this forum that I want to contribute in a meaningful way other than posting, because in the posting department, I don't have much knowledge or experience to share at this point in time. The reason I defer to you for handling it is because as I said earlier, I am relatively unknown and therefore forum members have no guage with which to measure my dependability.

Count me in for a group buy, regardless of which one of us handles the details. Jim said no problem shipping to different addresses, but he would want all funds in at the same time to afford us the discount.

Interesting..

KPG thanks for your words...I really did not take any of this against me..Maybe I am thick? (ok I AM!)

I find this very very funny in reality but it keeps the economy going. Get me a DBox or VBox or G2X or whichever tool to show you how I can post a 3 second 60-130mph run with my 1.6 ltr 356.

The only reason you see more erroneous runs with the AX22 is because they ARE erroneous, nothing to do with the device, and also because I have seen and analyzed about 200 runs so far, I don't miss much.

That is, with only a handful of wrong ones, and NOT due to the tool..

The other tools are cheaper though, so it might be a good buy, as long as you guys have sth. to measure what you have been sold, good for you. Cheers

Jean is the man.

I have communicated with him many times in the past and he has no agenda or anything to hide. Jean and KPV are both valuable assets to this forum.

Craig mentioned that he has nothing against Jean so nobody should take it that way.

Cheers.

Sharky, the cheapest lie detector against yourself! They don't go beyond 26 seconds in time 60-130mph runs, you might want to reconsider!

Phoenix, thanks for the kind words. No hard feelings here from anyone for sure, just sharing info, and diverging opinions are always healthy.. Cheers
