TT vs Ultima Sportscar
TT vs Ultima Sportscar
I had a chance to ride in an Ultima in the Bay Area this week...1800lbs, 650+HP and TQ....positively scary in terms of G's under full acceleration and how quick it is to 100. I consider myself a "car guy" like all of us do, but I couldnt control the built-in self preservation move of grabing onto the roll cage and nearly screaming. No exageration. I have never been in a quicker car. It made my TT seem like a fat luxo cruiser in comparison. W/o traction nannies, this car broke loose any gear, any time. I thought I wanted a new Noble M400 (crushes the new 997 TT and most any car), but it's just too much to handle, esp for street. Now....another 100hp in the 996 TT might not hurt
or a civilized GT2.
Jack - thanks for the ride....positively unforgetable.

I have a highly modified M400 and a ~600hp 996TT. The Noble is definitely more of a driver's car, straight line and track, as the Ultima would be. The 996TT does have its advantages as well.
Ultimately though, we're talking horses for courses. You really need to choose a vehicle that will work best for your use, regardless of ultimate performance.

The reliability of the Noble depends HIGHLY on who does the drivetrain install. Because of this, they can be near bulletproof, or a total trainwreck.
I have own one but sold it before i built it ready, but my friend has is ready...2200lbs and 962hp at the FLW..we are to scared to try it at that boost level but i have driven it alot on the 700hp setup...sick car and there isn´t much faster cars outthere

Because drivetrain the Ultima is Chevy LSx based (with Porsche tranny), the Ultima has incredible potential too. It also tends to be slightly lighter at 2250 lbs vs 2337 lbs, and has wider stock tires.

They're regular production vehicles in Europe. They come over to the US as full rolling chassis, which means pretty much everything is already done. All that needs to get put in is the engine, transmission, and a couple odds and ends. It's actually quite a difference between that and a box of parts.
Very very few people order the Ultima as a kit, the vast majority get them as rolling chassis. The Noble isn't even available in kit form.

requirements for the US market there for sold as a kit car (no drivetrain) to bypass them!
