Storing my 996TT - Please Help!

My 2001 996TT has been stored for the last 2 months and I was curious to know how long the tires will be ok if the car doesn’t move. Also, the battery is connected to the charger but I’d be interested to know about any other issues that I should consider re long-term storage.

Thanks in advance!

Michael

Me too. Funny I just started dropping my insurance on the cars I don't drive to storage. I am saving a BLOODY fortune! I can not believe I have been so stupid!

Your tires are going to be a little flat-spotted after 2 months. Not that bad. Nothing a day of driving wont work out. I used to use mine once a month in the winter, and it was fine. It was definitely a little "hesitant" for the first 10-20 mins.

How humid is it? And do rodents have access to the space (have had major wire done by rats).

Things to think about..

1. battery : 2 months and its dead.. will need a jump for sures almost
2. Tires : going flat... a great way is put it on stands.
3. oil : I would be very smooth when starting her back up as most of the oil will just sit there and dry spots will occur. I THINK

being from montreal my car has been stored each year for the past 4 years, this is what the dealer recommends

full tank gaz, super of course
fresh oil change
50 lbs pressure in all tires to avoid those flat spots
trickle battery charger maintainer
leave the windows open a bit
cover car and cover the exhaust pipes so no rodents get in

i add the following

fresh leather treatment on all surfaces
leave the car super clean with premium spray detailer

i start my car every month drive it around the garage it is in and close it back up. Never had an issue so far

Is there any difference between a battery maintainer and a trickle charger? or are they the same thing?

Maybe some Sea-Foam to stabilize the gas in the tank? Not sure if that's necessary or not with only 2 months of storage.

hmm.. i guess after reading over at rennlist.. starting the engine every 3 weeks is a bad thing to do... i guess i'll just let it sit there for 3 months... maybe i'll roll the car in the garage without starting it preventing it from getting flat spots on the tires... and i forgot to change the oil.. oops...

use to have alot of cars in storage years not months... fuel leaks were the scariest.... breaks were a surprise one i pulled tthe plugs and squaeted a little oil in each before starting.... if you can start the car once a month and let it run 30 min or so get the fluids moveing.... not good to leave tthe pistons settin in one p;ace for a year or so

The dealer told me to be sure to press the lock button so the vehical goes to sleep mode. If not in sleep mode the battery may die in 2-3 weeks. Is this true?
