It was pretty cool. There were 200 cars that showed up to run for the money. The cars were supposed to be all 9 second cars. There were about 20 7 second drag rails and even a funny car that I have personally seen run 6.89 here in AZ. It was pretty funny watching all of these cars run "dialed down" to the 9's they didn't even launch. I got an "all access" pass and spent some time down in the pits chatting with the staff of the Speed Channel including the host Rich and his brother, as well as, technical advisor Charles H.. This was a very professionally done event.

I am considering hosting something like this here in AZ for the region with a $10,000 winner take all for street cars only (cars will have to be driven to and from the track with valid plates, insurance and registration), how many 6 speeders would be interested in participating in something like this? There will be several different classes (import, domestic, 4,6,8,10,12 cyl. etc.)

 

put me down for 6 import. Let me know the deal.. but i live in LA ... is that okay if a guy from LA takes the win? LOL

So who was winning at the end. I mean 6 sec cars...thats just not right.

I've seen the show acouple times, the host and the "technical advisors" seemed umm...not that sharp. What are your thoughts?

Sounded like a good event Joe, if i had a car that fast you better believe i would be there, so i'll just stick to my visit to you guys out there in the West as a 6speed track event or w/e

 

i did a 9.5 and then was BANNED for life with the car... as i told them i thought the car might run just a 14.5.. so i didnt even have a helmet at the time.

He said that he was going to be at Pinks.
I was at Firebird and didn't see him, I got a VIP pass and was in the pits. I spoke to Rich Christensen and asked him where he was, he said "how should I know?" I told Rich that Alex said that he was going to a part of this episode and he got a blank and very puzzled look and said "heh, heh...ah no" Rich is actually a pretty cool guy in person and a real auto enthusiast.

Alex told me that he would call me, I tried calling him but no luck.

 

I might be down for that race. Going to pick up my new GTR tomorrow.
What would i be running against. Your GT-2, Bel-Air, or Charger? I would love to post the slip if i knew where the hell it was. This was a LONG time ago.. have a different motor and everything since then.
