my experience mirrors willcoxmd

stock I held 0.9
went to waste gate mod first and NO flash and held solid 1.0 with 100 cell cats and straight pipes

REVO stage 2, EVO waste gates and diverters, NO cats and straight pipes, holds solid 1.2.

Would throw in that while most all feel the diverters need upgraded, most also should agree that the wastegates are also necessary. I like to throw in the silicone boost hose upgrade as well (piece of mind)

And he!! I think everyone should also go to the LWFW (sorry off topic), cause then the above combo yields a car that spools and accelerates like no other!!

waste gate upgrades are very reasonable (total for product and pro install much less than 1K)

My 2 cents.

Very interesting.. I have an 02 Turbo, EVO stage 4 programming, and have seen 1.2 bar, but not for a long period of time. I have not changed the wastegates, but I think they were tightened at S-Car-Go..

Steady 1.2 Bar with a momentary 1.3 spike is much faster. Especially in the mid range. Trust me you'll be wondering how you lived without it. The midrange is so much stronger and the car just keeps going... It's night and day. I'm sure that's what the GT700 guys say about us stage 3/4 guys.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wastegate

A wastegate is just a valve that can divert exhaust pressure around the turbo when maximum boost is reached to control the speed of the turbo (and boost). If the spring in the wastegate "door" is not strong enough, the exhaust pressure can force the wastegate open (by pushing against a weak spring).

The wastegates get pushed open by exhaust pressure and exhaust gets diverted around the turbos before the are fully spooled. This makes for less exhaust spinning your turbos, a slower boost response and less boost, torque and power.

GIAC Flash and DVs installed yesterday, drove home and hit 1.1 bar without really pushing her hard (wet conditions). Torgue was kickass!

doccao: welcome to modaholics anonymous!

I'm assuming you have a K16 car. You're now at 500HP. Imagine another 100HP with K24s (or better yet hybrids) or even 700+ with Protomotive or GIAC/EVO. Anything after is tear open motor and upgrade the internals, rods, mainly.

You want to maintain 1.0 BAR with your setup and maybe a trasitional 1.1 BAR as a midrange instant spike). Anything more and you are just boosting hot air.

Thanks ARI...the addiction hit me from day one. 6speedonline is a great resource of information (or hypnosis). I saw a couple of GT800's yesterday which inspires me to keep modding. But for now, at 500hp and K16s I'm quite happy as very few cars can claim such hp .
