What cars, overall...are really better than the Porsche Turbos?

Most likely due to my lack of driving skills lol...
that said, hitting 2 months ownership of the turbo, i'm embarassed to say that having learned stick on this car, I've yet to really "push" it.
The e46 M3 was my previous car, and with full Moton and n/a mods, I felt like I could drive that car harder and faster than the turbo.
I think the M3 was an excellent daily driver for the performance, fun factor, versatility, price and zero maintenance w/ warranty makes it a winner.
I must admit, there's no question which car I'd take in the morning if I wake up to an M3 and the Turbo.

I respectfully disagree with some of your sentiments Jitsu.
I'm completely with you on RWD. My TT was partially converted a while back with driveshaft removal.
IMO the TT has a fine PSM for everyday safety. It is mostly defeatable with the exception of braking. IMO if the car is sideways and I'm on the brake (which an experienced driver does not do if he's hanging the tail out on purpose) I'll take all the help I can get to reel it back in.
I wish the GTx cars came with defeateble PSM.

I respect your right to disagree. However, when I drive my GT2 I want a complete and total driving experience. On the days when I don't want to put 100% into driving I will take my G35. Ironically, I am now looking for a Minivan for my soon to be wife and pending child and I will also be driving that vehicle as well. After driving a Minivan I am sure I will REALLY want a maximum driving experience.
Although I drive my P-car 3 days a week, if it were my primary driver I would want it to have all the bells and whistles (a la the 997TT) because it is, at the risk of being cliche, better safe than sorry. But that is not the purpose of my particular P-car. I want it to be as close as possible to a street legal race car as can be reasonably expected. I want maximum thrills and exhillaration when I drive the GT2.
Again, that is just what I want, and I fully understand that others may want different things from their P-cars.
EDIT: I just made 100 posts....maybe I should sell her now that I am able....lol

What a great thread...with MANY valid points in it.
I have two comments:
#1. I drive an EVO and am happy to be mentioned in the same sentence as all the cars you listed - for $29,xxx!!!!!
#2. The new GTR is why i am driving the EVO in the first place...to save money for that beast! I have high hopes for the car as my "JDM 997 Turbo"
My vote for best "sports/super car" would have to go the 996/997 Turbo though...money aside. i think you are right on with this thread.

Still, they're one of my favorite cars to make (and drive) fast, and remain the best bang for the buck car ever made.
I think the Turbo is the most "practical" sports car. Everyday drivability, reliable, good looks, and great performance. Some of the other cars mentioned would never make good daily drivers, like the GT (I speak from experience), but that is not what exotics are made for.
I would never trade my GT for a turbo, BUT I would love to have one sitting next to it. I miss my turbo, and loved how versatile it was. Hell, I bought a huge MAC and had to carry me, a passenger, and the tower with the 23" HD monitor, all in the turbo.
One thing I love about the GT is the lack of nanny aids. The turbo has some, although they are not too bad. I am used to rear wheel drive, so when I drove my turbo, I hated the understeer. I got used to it, but it was always there.
I am looking for a something to beat the hell out of, and was considering an EVO, but can not get over the "ricer" stereotype. Everytime I see one, it's usually some little punk driving it. I know how great these cars can drive. Dan @ SpeedGallery took me for a ride in his, and it completely changed my mind on the car. I wonder if I can get any good deals today??

BUT, i dont think the car needs it, its so wide and has so much grp i never had traction issues and im far from stock. A GT2 s ideal, obviously not for snow and ice, but for daily situations its fine and i wouldnt want them with PSM!
In my opinion I would say that the 996 TT is by far the most reliable car when modded to a certain level and has a ton of forgiveness to it. "Boy I am itching another "TT" right now
....
....
Well, I had my share of Italian princesses... looked and sounded great but when It came to performance and or reliability.... it was like the Russian Aero fleet... breaking and leaking fluids...
