The Ultimate Porsche Tool

I've been waiting for these guys to come out with their system tester! Unfortunately I no longer have a Porsche to test. Someone needs to buy this and report on its functionality. It is more than a OBD2 scanner. It tells you your overrevs and can read airbag codes!!

http://www.durametric.com/

"Our product is often compared to OBD2 products, though it is much different. Our tool uses the same communications protocol that the dealership's tool does to access all of the computers in the car.
OBD2 was developed to meet emissions compliance rules in the United States, and can only read diagnostic information pertaining to an emissions problem on Porsche cars. Our tool can read both emissions and non-emissions related information in the car's engine computer (DME) plus all other systems on the car like Airbag, ABS, etc...
Additionally OBD2 only displays "P-Codes" our tool displays both "P-codes" and Porsche specific fault code information that matches the car's service manual."

I have no affiliation with them.

I have it and does all that it claims. It can even clear the dreaded airbag codes. The only code it wont clear is any alarm related codes. It will datalog a/f and about 50 other parameters as well... for a couple hundred dollars, it is money well spent. I bring my laptop to every driving event so I can read a code if it ever occurs. I just ordered mine! It will be here in 2 days...

KPG - Can you remove ABS, PASM & Check Engine lights? Are the AFR's pretty accurate? Is the program pretty easy to use and learn?

Thanks

i've been using the autoenginuity software and cable for a while now.

although it's more money, it looks better.

how are the connect times? that is my only complaint with my AE software and I'm not sure if it's the software or the car. connecting can be slow with the AE software.

Yes , it will remove all of those... The a/f is reading off the ecu, so I have no stand alone system to compare it to, although I will be going the Zeitronix route...Kevin

Dog, I have both and they really dont compare. AE is a OBD2 scanner..not much more. Durametric does scanning , code clearing and datalogging...I think it is cheaper as well. It is connected as soon as you double click the icon on your laptop.

you need to play with your AE software more. it also scans, clears codes, and datalogs.

it looks like they are about the same price.

the AE will not clear air bag and some of the more advanced codes though, so the nod goes to the Dura package.

how are the connect times? i find my AE can be really slow to connect at times, sometimes taking minutes to fully shake hands with the ECU and have all sensors available. is the dura quicker than the AE?

Will either allow you to adjust other factory settings, such as the auto door locks?

Many thanks to young Doc RMR (Amy Lindsay?) for the 996TT workshop manuals. Not just an easter egg, a Christmas present.

Deputydog95,

I have the same issue with my AE...takes way to long to connect...grrrr. I need to talk to jay and find out why..other wise the tool is great. Wish it did the airbag reset though..I needed that last year when I changed my seats out.
