For what parts? If you are talking wheels I prefer powder coating because it it much more durable.

Powder Coating doesn't weaken the metal with the high temps ?

The temps used are only 400-450 degrees. Doesn't weaken the metal at all.

It exceeds paint in resisting acids, solvents, impact, and abrasions.

Just a caveat on the powder coating.....it certainly shouldn't weaken the metal but sooner or later like virtually every other type of coating it will wear or abrade away.......

A little tip given to me was if possible and it meets your aesthetics leave the lip of the wheel clear. That way when you curb it (and almost everyone does sooner or later) you can get the lip repaired without having to recoat the entire wheel.

I am having some track wheels powder coated black now.

But unquestionably you can get years out of it, and MUCH better than painting in my experience.

Painting sucks for brakes and wheels, I have had paint and powdercoat on both types. The paint on brakes peels and fast, the high temps causes it to crack and you know what happens from there. The powdercoating may do the same but it will take many years as opposed to months or in some cases weeks with paint.

and on wheels if you take your wheels on and off for track use the paint will come off by the lug holes very easily with impact wrench or a hand lug tool. powdercoating is worth the extra money because you can bet it will last a long klong time.

I originally painted my wheels. Not durable at all. I subsequently powder coated them. Much more durable.

my wheels were painted from the factory and the fronts are flaking off all over, looks ghetto. I'll go powdercoat when i get them fixed.

With the Powder coating, which would be prefered... Gloss, semi-gloss, or matte?
