Code Reader and Reset Tool?

Has there been any discussion on code reader and reset tools?

I understand that there is software available that can read codes, reset them and even act as data acquisition software. Can anyone expand please? I may be willing to buy a laptop just for this purpose.

Also, what is the option for stand alone devices (no laptop).

My main reason is to reset CEL associated with bad MAF (and when replacing MAF).

I just purchased the Durametric Software, its awsome! www.durametric.com

It reads codes, clears codes, gives realtime "Actual Values" - 100+ of them (LAMBDA, RPM, O2, Engine Load, Idle, Engine Temp, MAF, and many, many others....) It also clears Airbag Codes, Alarm Codes, ABS & PASM, DME, CEL & Tiptronic codes....

The only thing you need is Laptop running Windows XP, we tried it on one of my Laptop's running Windows 2000 and the program did not like it. Also make sure you get a newer laptop with a processor fast enough (Pentuim 4, AMD 64, ect...) so that the "Actual Values" you are retreiving are "Actual"... Again, we tried it on a older Laptop I had with a Pentuim 3 processor and it was not fast enough to capture the Data and display in real time!

I love this program! I also talked with the owner of the company the other day on the phone when I had some questions, super nice guy! He handles alot of the questions & customer service himself. He is a Porsche Owner and Enthuisist.....

Buy it, you wont regret it!~

Good question, I'd like to know that as well.

Also, who here has done data logging with the Durametric? Kevin at UMW told me to data log my car so he can make me a new program.

I have a Mac with 10.5, and loaded Windows XP for dual boot so that I can run the durametric and traqmate software. haven't tried either one yet, but Kevin at UMW told me that he has a customer who has done this. Windows 7 requires "Snow Leopard (10.6??) for BootCamp.

Durametric all the way for me... Bought one within 1 month of owning the car and it has come in quite handy... Couldn't imagine owning a P-car without one!
