Gemballa Turbo TIP upgrade
sounds & looks pretty hot
From recent GT Purely Porsche mag:
"Another Essen Motor Show rolls around, and Gemballa inevitably releases yet another bonkers 911.
This time around, the German manufacturer has focused its attention on the 996 Turbo Tiptronic, fiddling around with its ECU, exhaust and induction systems to produce typically lairy performance figures of 600bhp and 649lb ft of torque. Which, if Gemballa isn't just having a laugh at our expense, would make it the most powerful Tiptronic available.
If the figures are accurate, this 911 is going to need some stopping - which is probably why the GTR600 is offered with massive Brembo eight-pot calipers and 380-mm race-spec discs on the front and four-pot calipers combined with 330-mm discs on the rear.
To cope with the GTR's added violence, the transmission has been suitably beefed up and the Tiptronic programme re-mapped to suit the increase in performance. Similarly, the chassis has come in for a few tweaks, with Gemballa fitting its Bilstein adjustable dampers, beefier anti-roll bars, strut brace and heavy duty axles front and rear. Mated to the revised chassis is a set of Gemballa Racing 19-inch split-rim alloys, 9J front and 11.5J rear.
A full aero kit, including adjustable rear spoiler, vented GT2-style front bumper and revised rear valance is available, as is a range of interior trims, just waiting for your chequebook."
