2001-2004 TT porsche(modded) vs 03 Cobra(modded)

I was leaving school @ glendale college and I see a silver porsche Turbo. I get behind him to turn towards the Freeway. We make the turn and he mashes the gas to pass a car I do the same. The road we are going on in curvy and uphill, I can't full throttle it in 2nd or 3rd, cuz my backend will go out on me. On the first turn I am holding steady in second, and the guy almost looses it in his 2-3 shift, his backend went out(everyone knows you dont change gears in a sharp turn) and he almost hits another car and the crub. I let off because I didnt want to be part of the potential accident. We get to the freeway 2 North (waiting to turn left onto it) When the light turns green he slams on the gas and passes the car infront of him. I follow under less acceleration. He starts off about 4 cars infront. On the onramp he nails it first(still in the turn) I wait till I am strait, I grab second, then I miss 3rd...quickly regain and I am chasing him down. 4th gear I am closing the gap slowly. I grab 5th and inch closer then at 145 I let off(traffic ahead) the Porsche guy keeps pulling. I am thinking WTF 150 is fast enough. He slows down ahead and I get up next to him and talk for a min. we give each other a thumbs up and I tell him I want to run again.

round 2

We are on the ramp to the 210 East towards Pasadena. I tell him I want a 3rd gear roll AFTER THE TURN. He said OK and while changing freeways this dude just starts nailing the gas in the turn. WTF I can't go 115 on a curve. I am in a vert snake. So when the turn is over I hammer the thottle. He starts off with 15 lengths and he is pulling. I am reeling him in slowly by 130 and he lets off still infront on me by 10 or so lengths. He got off the freeway, and I just realized that I did not want to be on that freeway, Oh well...I'll turn around.

Conclusion: My car was faster in a straight line, but in the turn the AWD Porsche Kicked my azz. I guess he didn't want to do a true acceleration test, starting next to eachother. I would have no doubt smoked him in a straight line from an even start. That is definately the fastest car I have raced.
BTW he had exhaust and an ECU.

allanlambo has a little shameless behaviour in the past
at which point during this time did you have the opportunity to find out he had exhaust and ECU?

Sounds like fun, be careful with that street racing, it can turn horribly bad in a split second.

Actually there are guys in 2003 cobra coupes with similar mods going 10.90's @ about 123-130.

This guy has about 440rwhp 2003 Coupe

this is what 640 rwhp will do for you. Just so you know this is a stock car + <$6,000 in modsClick Here

This is also about 6K in mods with a smaller pulley running higher boost Click Here

So an 11.3 is nothing special, Just a good launch and fast shifting

I live close to there. Be careful I have seen cops hiding in the bushes off the 210 to 2 south side, and the 2 N to the 210 east. They hide in the bushes and most people are pretty fast coming out of those turns as they are so long and the bend isn't too bad. I was lucky once I was playing with a red mustang on the 210 going onto the 2 south. I started to slow down at Ocean View, and he just blew by at 95+, and the cop lit him up right at the 210 to 2 S bend.

How come these cobras are running such good times with not that much hp and being a heavy car? I'm impressed at those times.

You know it is really strange. When I go to a real drag strip, the times (for the most part) are always alot slower. This doesn't apply to just the Cobra's.

I was at the drag strip a couple of weeks ago, and a friend with a convertible '03 Cobra that dynos at ~470 RWHP (he's not stock) ran 12.2 @ 112 on drag radials (with good traction). That's a long way from 11.3, and no he's not a bad driver.

My neighbor has a stock '03 Cobra that dynos ~400 RWHP and the same day he ran a 13.1 on stock tires/pressures.

Dock. The BS always seems to stop at a real drag strip.

Those numbers sound more realistic Dock. Hell on street tires and 432rwhp in my Z06 I have run a best of 11.75@126. I have never seen a Cobra let alone a Cobra Vert run a 11.3@125 even with 470rwhp.
