OK, Another example of Dealers knowing less than you would like

My apologies ahead of time to folks on the board who are probably very knowledgeable and also affiliated with dealerships! So here is my story...picked up an 03 k16 996tt but wanted to get GT3 style wheels. So I ask the dealer to cut me a break and he gives me a price of 3750 for the set which i thought was great. They order the set through parts and the wheels come in, I set up a service appt and they call me later in the day to say they don't fit...of course I knew exactly what happened, they ordered the GT3 offsets. I tell them to order the correct offsets and he tells me that the price difference is another $1250!!! (so don't know if there was an intentional bait and switch but it certainly felt that way) Plus, they tell me that they dont have the spacer kit to make the rears position correctly so I am out my car for another day (not too bad as they gave me a new Cayman to shoot around in). The spacer comes in and they install the wheels, I take the car home and realize (after doing some homework on this site) that the fronts are half inch wider than stock and 10MM difference than stock. The dealer ordered the only thick spacer they have in the system which was 17MM...so the front wheel wells are well filled (which looks good) and the rears look like they are bowlegged! (more of a visual thing since with the 17mm spacer, the position is just about the stock 45ET.). So I tell them they need a slightly bigger spacer to fill out the wheelwell and so that I am not driving around with a front track that is 1.25 in wider than the engineers originally planned! Of course, they tell me Porsche does not make them that big, only 5MM and 17MM. I finally gave up on them and said I will order some from H&R and be done with them

Am I asking too much for these guys to know more than I do about the cars they sell and service? I decided to give them the business because they presumably know or can find out but apparently not. With the new spacers, I am quite happy but this was not the purchase experience that I was expecting, ya know? Sheesh....

Thanks, I feel much better now...

I'd give them the wheels/spacers back and look elsewhere, how stupid for a P dealer to put the wrong wheels on!!

I had a stealer tell me my cab roof will not work while I am moving...LOL. I have a set of GT3 wheels off my TT (removed after <500 miles) with original Bridgestone S02s). PM me if you want them.
