MAF and injectors

It has been brought to my attention that my car (see sig for mods) may benefit from an upgraded MAF and injectors. The stock fuel pump is adequate for my power levels, but upgrading the MAF and injectors should improve responsiveness.

I am not looking for any more hp, I just want more power and throttle response in the lower rpm ranges.

Which MAF/injectors should I go with and how much will they cost? Do I only need the MAF? I assume that I will also need to reflash the ECU after the upgrades.

Thanks

I did not think larger injectors would do anything except increase your need for fuel. I guess the new ones could have a better spray pattern. Which may give a better atomization. I would not thaink they would be worth it. The Maf may help if the housing is larger and thats your bottle kneck. So in my opinion save your money! Unless your injector duty is over 80% and your MAF is being pegged I would not mess with it.

If you did replace either item or both you need a reflash.

Thanks!, I did the same upgrades with another car I owned. I felt no better anything except my MAF was not pegged and I moved my injector duty down to about 60%. Did not do anything except make my car run safer.

Mark, please explain.

By the way, I had my mechanic (Hans....works for the big dealership here....trained in Germany) install my EVO IC's today.

He said the IC's themselves were great, but the hoses and fittings were very poorly designed. He had to make many modifications in order to get them to fit.

He suggested that they designers make the IC's fit the OEM hoses.

there comes a point when u start running out of MAF and injectors to say the least... so upgraded dual 044 pumps with 60 lbs injectors will do the job.
stock MAf is good up to a certain point... and u basically over it... I have a maf that supports 1200 hp...

There are a few things that need to be trimmed in order to make the intercooler fits perfectly. The hoses should not be smaller. They were designed to withstand 30 PSI and they have to be that many layers in order to accommodate.

You should have had him call me. The stock hoses suck and will fail, it is not if....just when.

Hi Stephen,

I probably overstated when I said "very poorly designed"....it should be more like "it was a pain in the A** to get them to fit." I did some more research and it does seem clear that it is definately worthwhile to upgrade hoses if you are pushing more than 500 to the wheels.

I will also reiterate that he thought that the intercoolers and end tanks were very well made....I think everyone agrees, even the proto guys, that the EVO IC's are a very good product.
