EVO 1.0bar WG actuators?

Has anyone tried the EVO 1.0bar wastegate actuators on their 996TT?

http://www.evoms.com/marketplace/Vie...27812CF3D64%7D

They look like a good upgrade combined with GIAC software.

What turbos are you running in your car?? If you have the K24's most people say its a must, not necessary for the K16's though!

I recently added a set to my GT2 and the difference is awesome. I bought the car with a REVO programmer and could never (or very rarely) get the car to show 1.1 or 1.2 bar under full boost. After adding the WG actuators, I get 1.1 very easily and I see 1.2 all the time.

However, the most noticeable difference is how early the boost strats to build, and how storng the car feels now under only light throttle.

Worth the $$$ IMO

Not necessary for K16's.

I see that Evo offers this kit for the k16s, though their stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, or even stage 4 kits do not come with the wastegate actuators. Which would lead me to believe that illm3 is correct in that you dont need them, but they could only help? My other question is if you did buy them for the k16s are they compatible with the k24s if u decide to upgrade later? Thanks for the info!

Sounds like a good mod with no downside.

Just do it...

Car builds boost fast and without effort. I find you don't have to put it down as hard to get boost now. I have K24s.

Hey, I just had a flashback of something we used to do on the DSMs. Has anyone tried to bend the wastegate rods a bit to put some more tension on the flaps and quicker boost response? Again, this is from like 10 years ago, so my memory may be fuzzy on this...

In lieu of this, who out there is using a manual or electronic boost control? I was wondering if it was worth it, or does a non-flash ECU know to cut back the boost, cut fuel, or retard timing if you go over stock levels? I suppose you could just bypass whatever solenoid currently controls the wastegate, but was wondering if there was some other countermeasure built in?

Thanks

A must with K24s, don't know about K16s... The consensus is that they are not needed on K16s. Just in case you don't know X50s, Turbo S and GT2 came with K24s.

You can tighten the factory bolts to put more tension on the factory spring with mixed success at best.

I have them with same great experience as above. You can change out the waste gate springs but requires opening and closing backup the waste gate and the EVO unit was designed so all that mess and possible inaccuracy and human error would be avoided.
Also as mods go this is cost effective and an easy DIY.

I wouldn't take a chance bending the WG rods...not precise enough. Remember that the left and right sides need to be identically matched.

Using a BC is a fine idea. Electronic boost control of parallel turbos would be a nightmare to get right as far as I'm concerned.
Manual would be the way to go. I have been intending to pick up a couple of Hallman MBCs. They are cheap and accurate, and the ceramic ball gives an instant release. They would keep the WG completely closed until the boost target is achieved. You could accurately dial in the target using a Mityvac or any other pump with a guage. Even on K16s it would be beneficial to reach boost target quicker. Overall, the same function as the upgraded WGs, but not as tidy.

I'm partial to the old manual boost control myself...

Time to go to Graingers.

it seems the Evo wg dont provide the instant release once you have them dialed in to not exceed 1.1 bar. Prior to my adjustments, they would boost instantly. How does the Hallman BC differ or exceed the EVO units?
