Pulsating Noise in Lightweight sachs 2 clutch . . thoughts?

Quick Question: Got the europipe quiet on, got some rattle at during heavy throttle, rattle on all three different exhausts that I tried, not sure, all installed at different shops. Any thoughts

also, I have Kevin’s sachs 2 lightweight flywheel, nice response on it, very quick rev's, smooth engagement, very drivable, however, have a significant pulsating noise sound 2200-3000rpm, such as a pulsating noise, whom whom whom whom , okay, that’s the best I can type the noise ! Even if clutch is disengaged. My mechanic feels it’s just that the 996 has so much resonance noise at the 2500rpm mark its normal and not an indication of a crooked install of the flywheel. Engagement feels linear and smooth, no pedal pulsing. Just looking to see if a dual mass really absorbs all that various noise...

DW, Not sure what it is...maybe motor mounts or something with suspension (sway bars...) that is loose. I do not have this and I have the same exhaust and flywheel.

I would agree with wross, I have the same set up and dont have that noise either.
Better question is is it a "new" noise or has it always been there since the LWFW install? Cause they are noisey.

There is no question the dual mass flywheel does isolate a bucket load of harmonics/resonance for the mota! these motors are inherently noisey. Welcome to the world of throw out bearing and LWFL noises.

hmm, i definitely didnt have before the l.w. install. my dealer installed it under full warranty free labor because they were pulling the motor down for a small issue. it makes the harmonic noise even in neutral at 2500rpm ( not chatter, that doesnt bother me ) but its quitenoticeable, its sounds like something rubbing in one sense, but goes away under 2000rpm or above 3000rpm so my race mechanic ( well versed in racing 996's ) says if it was wrongly installed then we would hear it across all rpm. i am almost ready to put the heavy one back in ! but if ross and tom arent having this issue, maybe they didnt torque it right, when i lift the clutch its engagement is linear and smooth, so if it was crooked, then wouldnt you feel a warped rotor sensation?

Dean, since it started after the LWFW install most likely is common noise. But since you are so concerned for piece of mind I would just ask them to check it over again. If they back their work there really shouldnt be a problem.
Hope you figure it out!

I have a very similar experience after the same LWFW install. My shop believes its from the LWFW and that I should just get used to it. It doesnt sound good, almost like stereo feedback or something. I really hope this is normal. Im going to have mine looked at soon.

No problem with the rattle. But the distinct pulse-ating noise, almost rubbing sound in a sense, is very apparent. put it this way, ever hear the wambling of a bad wheel hub bearing ? like that, almost want to wonder if they installed it the right way, all instructions were followed about torquing.

You get what you pay for. I was duped by a fellow member that he was selling me an EVO stage 3 LWFW set-up. What I got instead was a SPEC stage 3 that is a total bear to drive. It takes the fun out of driving the car. Soon I will have the UMW Sachs set-up.

On a bright note, Dave the owner of SPEC has been very helpfull in working to try and make me happy so I have no complants with SPEC as a company.
