When I got married, I started my "Car Fund" account. She doesn't check it, doesn't care about it. Every year I take a small portion of my paycheck and use that money to mess with cars. I NEVER touch my savings or my house money or anything like that to do anything to a car. If I can't afford a mod or a set of wheels out of my Car Fund then I don't get it.
This has kept my marriage happy and my wife content not seeing how much I spend each year on cars.

Topgun, our wives seem very similar. Anytime I'm on a forum, detail the car, go out to a car show late at night, that nerve whips out and starts slapping me around hard. I got kicked out of the house last Memorial day weekend after I told her I wanted to go out to a car show/street race and she wasn't going to stop me....so into the hotel I checked for a couple nights with my trailer parked out back.
It actually worked out perfectly....I went out racing every night, detailed my car one afternoon in the office garage, actually got a lot of stuff done. 
But in the end, I learned I had to compromise, so back I came. I'm now allowed to come out and play twice a month with an earlier curfew. And I wash cars at night when she is asleep.

I always remind my wife that it is cheaper for me to collect and play with cars, than that other hobby brain surgeons tend to have, collecting and playing with women.

My wife is cool about it. She just doesn't want to hear about it. As long as I take her out....bring her home...do my thing...wait for her to fall asleep.... out I go.
The only thing she might worry about...is me getting into a wreck. She doesn't care about the dough I spend........she's dope.

geeeee imust very lucky.. never a wimper.. she does however tell me to go faster on the very rare times i have laged behind on tours with the p car club.. my best story is on the way to monteryon hwy 5 i'm doin about 130 tryin to catch the pac i look over and she.s readin a style mag. gotta love it shes a speed freak
