It Seems Giac Does Not Sell The Race File By Itself. I Have Been Told You Have To Buy The Stock File With The Race File For 650.00. I Have No Reason To Have The Stock File. Does Anyone Know If It Is Possible To Obtain The Race File By Itself?

 

am thinking you might want the stock file for non race gas,, i have a race gas file and a pump gas file as well as a stock file for the dealer

 

Steve, I Have The 1.2 Stg 4 Pump Gas File Already. My Car Is No Longer Under Warr. So I Have No Use For A Stock File.

 

It makes no sense to have to pay for a stock file....heck, it comes with the car!! Kevin

 

PaulieW- What if you need to fill up in an emergency situation and there is no race gas available? Having a stock file would save you. Just something to consider.

 

Race file (what he needs) race gas
pump file (what he has) pump gas 1.2bar
stock file (what they want him to buy, but he doesn't want it) pump gas .8bar

Aren't you the one that is pimping the octane booster....and you just have the stock ECU. Octane booster will not help you with that ECU.

 

Never said I could use it. I've said it like 15 times Only thing at my house that needs race gas uses only C16 The Vette runs on 93. I just have friends with turbo cars.

I've heard though if I added some VP Import my car will pick up like 150whp because of the massive amounts of octane

 

What So what is the turbo in your sig? And you just posted your hitting .6-.7? WTF?

 

No No.. I have a Turbo, but its stock as a rock.. My friends are the one with moded turbo cars in general.

The Camaro has to have C16 for the nitrous. I have an enrichment tank for the nitrous and a fuel cell for the regular fuel.

It depends on your ECU/DME code, but right now GIAC has a 3 program combo for most 996TT's; pump gas, race gas, "stock." You have to at least have the GIAC pump gas file in order to add race. I believe they're working on making it u-choose so you could just get the pump and race.

stock file is bologna! you dont need it its a waste o fmoney and a way they trap you for more of you rmoney. If over 2 grand sometimes 3 for files isnt enough.

Thanks fot the clarification, drjoe. So do you really think that they charge for the stock file? I doubt it, and imagine that to ask for programming without it will cost the same as you are paying for the proprietary software and not the oem software.
