Sure if they're stock, but my modded 02 S4 would walk chipped 996tt's, and that was before my GT28 transplant....

RS4 is quick but not fast in my book. its speed is no where near a stock Turbo. it's much heavier & the Quattro sucks too much power.

I have seen some very fast S4s, but none that could keep up with a reasonably modified 996TT. That being said, a friend of mine (who owns an Audi tuning shop) has been building an S4 for a couple of years and, if he ever finishes, it is expected to be a real monster.

jk...haha...and ya, I generally find the lower A4 varients being the more annoying of the bunch...but NO better then the many 325i s I see around my area...

 

Hmm find that hard to believe, i havent ran an RS4 with my friends M3, but my friends M3 with ME driving, beat 2 stg2+ B5 S4's from highway rolls and a dig, its stock with the exception of a muffler!!

 

A stock 996TT would put a serious hurtin' on one. Stock RS-4's only trap 109 mph.

 

A S4 with KO4 turbos has no chance VS a 996TT with chip..sorry. Here is a video of my 2001 996TT with K16's/GIAC and Europipe VS my friends STG3 S4 with KO4/RS6 hybrid turbos (one of the fastest around). This S4 runs a 3.2-3.4 FATS time (about on par with a stock GT2). You can see in these videos I give my friend about a .5-1 car length jump. Once we really get on it the S4 has no chance. I have never raced a Autospeed GT car yet. But I assume that it would be a closer race. However this is not apples to apples comparison. A 996TT WITH turbo upgrade would smoke ANY S4 with turbo upgrades. I don't care how modded a S4 is there is only so much power they can produce on stock internals which is around 600HP (crank) While I do love my S4 which is highly modded (see sig) I have no illusions about the capabilities when compared with a Porsche TT. As the saying goes... there's no replacement for displacement.

I would be curious to see your mod list when you were able to walk a chiped TT. I have been around the 2.7T engines for a while and have yet to see this happen with my own two eyes. No offense but just haven't seen it done..

I have had a K04'd S4, an RS4 and now a mod'd 996TT. S4 vs RS4 is one thing, of course the mod'd S4 is quicker than the stock RS4, no suprise there. How about mod'd S4 vs Supercharged RS4?

S4/RS4 vs 911TT? This is apples and oranges, but ok, i'll bite. Stock, dont even thinkg about it, my K04'd S4 *might* have beat a stock 996tt...maybe, depends on drivers, conditions etc, again..BIG maybe, but I wouldnt put money on it. Even if they were similar power, the weight and ineffeciency of the S4 (compared the 996TT) will have the Porsche easily walking the Audi.

Mod'd S4 vs Mod'd 996TT? LOL - you're kidding, right?

Seriously, were talking mid size 4dr vs 2dr sports coupe, I think they were meant more to compliment each other in the garage, not compete. But hey, its your money :-)

here in a few months, my Audi should be able to pretty much spank my TT. Definitely not the worlds fastest car, but neither is my porsche ;-)

 

I watched an AWE Stage 2 B5 walk a stock RS4 a half a dozen times from a 3rd gear, 60 mph roll. It wans;t by much, a car length or so to the top of 4th, but it was consistent. There are numerous other runs on AW showing the same.

 

Interesting, now to go out and find an RS4 in his M3
