Q: Tequipment Roll Cage
The DAS is a nice setup, but know that you will either have to reposition your Bose Subwoofer or put it in the attic/basement. The rear struts attach to the rear shock towers. The GMC is a nice choice. It has one more X-brace than the Tequipment ---100 bar. Tom and I chose the Teq. because we feel it's adequate protection and it is soooo purdy! Hey Tom, good point on 5-point vs. 6-point and the "jewels." At my age, not interested in procreation, but they still are enervated.

... Honestly the Tequipment we have is more than enough, and of course does the job. To say its a "bling" item is ridiculous, not one bit!
Glad you "got it" and I totally agree concerning the adequacy of the bar. Speaking in the context of the non-alcololic or non Esq. bar.

I truly appreciate all the inputs so far from guys who actually track their cars. Helps to justify spending more $$$ on my addiction. Thanks again 6sp junkies!!!!

If someone is truly concerned with rollover protection, why would they choose a bar with wimpy tubing that only attaches to the seat belt mounting points?
If you're only concerned with bling and having "rollbar protection" (quotes intentional) then go for the Tequipment bar. If you're truly concerned with roll over protection, there are many other, better, choices out there.
haha, Im with the DAS SPORT supporters...I just got my bar/spg seats/teamtech harness' in and the car feels marketly different...
The DAS bar is such a beast...but ya...if you dont have a race seat or atleast a gt3 seat (i didnt see if you had one) then you shouldnt do ANY harness at all...but if you DO...then I would go with 6pt...you guys know that some companies (ala teamtech) offers a sort of "pad" that makes the nut strap a no issue right??

So assuming the harnesses are not up to par, and the stuff is in "like new" condition it is not a bad deal, you can do the math from above what I paid.
Of course there are always other deals around but if you stick to the good stuff the prices are all about the same.
Only weak link I can see is the harnesses.
Dont forget if you are not a DIYer the install will cost $ as well. You dont want to skimp on this install as this is saftey equipment and needs to be able to save your life! Also some tricks to not having your seatbelt dash light not on.
As for steering wheels, I have the carbon fiber one that came with the car and I have no problem with it. Some say factory wheels are too big or not thick enough, but with good driving gloves seems ok to me.
If I were to change or you want to I would go to the FVD wheel, thicker and smaller diameter.
Good luck!!

There are many other options as mentioned above however.

If for DE and harnesses it is a great option, if you are racing it is not an option at all. Some of you guys may be comparing apples to oranges, certain bars obviously fit certain needs and all the above comments actually have merit.
ya, as tom kerr already has said, no-one should skimp out on anything having to do with safety...I just think if one is going to do a roll bar, one should do the safest and best for performance out there...why not...its only your life...
Im not saying the tequipment isnt bad...but if you are going to do a bar...why not just go for the gold? Its not like you have that much more room with a Tq bar anyway...
rock on tom!
(btw, first DE with the 996TT in Mar for 3 days @ vir)
