I had EVO stg1 + 2 and ran the car very hard at the tracks, both 1/4 and roadcourse and never had a MAF issue. Kevin

 

I had MAF issues with V-fow, stage 2 (high altitude).

 

mine went out when it was stock. Replaced under warranty. Stage II now for 3 years with no problems.

 

In answer to your question, Yes many people with just a simple tune have
had their MAF's blow. It is fairly common.

these things like to blow out randomly, weather you have a stock TT or a stage III, at our dealer we see it often, WOODSTER is correct its very common on these cars, or any German manufactured cars, i have a B5 S4 and mine went on me, and my gf's audi TT has blown out twice now, its just one of those things
