Exclamation Can't open the back!

Hello all,

Came home this afternoon and checked my oil level - getting down there, time for a top-up.

I press the button at the doorsill to open the hood (or trunk, or back hatch, or whatever you call the hood of a rear-engine car! ). Ker-thunk, the familiar sound of the actuator.

I walk around the back, only to find the lid still completely closed.

I try it a few more times with the same result.

Has this happened to anyone else before? Is there a manual access (I didn't bother to read up)? Or is it time for a quick trip to the dealership?

Thanks All
VanBoost

No sir. A recently replaced battery. Car runs fine and as mentioned, you can hear the mechanism trying to open the lid when the button is pressed.

Have a friend help open it for you and before you shut it again you need to find the rubber bumpers and screw them out a little bit. That will give it enough of a pressure to open it when the latch is actuated.

There is a manual release. It is behind the left tail light. I believe you loosen the bolt for the tail light with a thin wrench and once it is off, the cable release is there.
