rear seat lever - broken

can anyone tell me how the little plastic piece that you pull forward to move the rear seats forward attaches? mine has been broken since i bought the car and i thought it just needed a new little plastic piece, but i got one of those (had the one i thought was broken as well) and it just slides up and down on the piece of metal sticking out...
is there some type of spring/clip thing in there or something that i am missing? its basically just the metal lever there that has the two edges sticking up and then the piece of plastic that slides freely up and down that piece.
Any help is much appreciated.
TIA

Okay, so here's the gig on the little plastic handles to pull the rear seat backs down. in addition to the little plastic piece there is a little metal clip - .45cents from the dealer - you stick that on the piece of metal first and get it seated and then push the plastic piece on top of that clip...you kinda have to press hard right at the end to get it to clip in and seat properly, but then its locked in place.

Where did you get this? I can't find them anywhere and have no dealership close by.
