Just picked her up (996TT)!!!
Just picked her up (996TT)!!! (Updated with Pics)
Well, after some trouble communicatng with the seller of a really nice 9000 mile silver 01, I kept looking and found a black on black 2002 with deviated stitching (red), red belts, large carbon fiber package, that is super clean. It's a 6MT with around 27xxx miles. It has navigation and the bose audio. I picked her up yesterday from Autohaus West in Irvine, CA (thanks Chris!!!).
Coming from the E39 M5, my initial impressions:
-heavier clutch but not a bad thing;
-the thrust the 996 tt makes is insane... although the M5 was fast, the turbo feels like a supernatural force is pushing you.
- steering feel is much better. To be expected as the M5 weighs a lot more.
- handling - I havent pushed the envelope yet, but it definately feels like it's very planted. The M5 was a magnificant handler, especially with my PSS9s, swaybars, and camber plates. Then again, I had to do all of that to get it to feel right...I can only imagine how the turbo would respond to the same mods!
- size is obviously a lot smaller. However, I'm 6'2, 225, and I dont feel cramped. I test drove a 993 tt in my search and that felt too small.
It's nice to be back in a turbo car. My last turbo was a 92 MR2, however, my last forced induction vehicle was a 2004 Ford Lightning (same motor as the Ford GT) with 6# pulley, chip, high flow cats, and exhaust. I've owned some interesting cars over the years, but nothing compares to the 996TT.
I know you guys want pics so I'm gonna go wash her now and drive up to my favorite spot for taking pics. I should have some uploaded by tonight.

Still on the hunt for a white turbo, thought I had one this week but the buyer decided to keep.

Also I want to get rid of them ASAP so all I have is car payment and mortgage as my two big payments.
Here are some pics of the interior. I couldn't stop driving so by the time I stopped to take pics, the sun was already down, so no pics of the exterior (youve all seen black turbos with stock wheels anyways).
