Purchasing without records or CPO?
Purchasing without records or CPO?
I'm looking at a turbo at the Autobahn Autosport in Gilbert AZ, no maint records or warranty of any kind. Is there a way to look up the maint records at a dealer? I'm nervous about buying a car with no knowledge of its past... Anyone know the car? Are those wheels correct for a '01?

They are sport techno wheels. I would be very wary of buying a 40K mile car with no service records. Take a good look at the carfax and take it to a P dealer for a PPI before going any further. If you don't like all the answers you get, then keep looking, there are lots of cars available.

I bought a 27k car with no records. Even with a thorough PPI, I needed a new clutch and flywheel two days after I bought it. The owner was an "enthusiast" in the sense that he loved fast cars, but *not* an enthusiast in that he supposedly put a lot of wear and tear on the car (according to the mechanic I took it to for the work when I got home). So, yes, if you have doubts, have some spare cash around don't do it... I took a chance. At least now that the work has been done, my car is in good shape. My C2 had every receipt since day one. It needed nothing almost nothing in the year I had it, and plus, it came with the enthusiast goodies like clear corners, taillights, and silver badging. Enthusiast cars *can* definitely be worth it.
Have a PPI done and have the computer checked for overrevs. There are stage 1 and stage 2 over revs. Stage 1 are not to uncommon but be very careful with stage 2 over revs. These usually result in bent or burnt values from a missed shift or bad downshifts. If there is any doubt have a compession and leak down test done.
