Just wondering, the Turbo ('04 cab) whistles upon coming to a stop. It can also be replicated most of the time by being held a certain rpm (~3k) for a few seconds. The noice goes away as soon as the clutch it pushed in. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like the check valve or the pressure control valve on the hydraulic resevoir. A simple test is the following. Pop open your engine cover. In neutral rev the engine up to about 3k-4k rpm for approx. 30 sec. Release the accelerator and listen to the engine compartment. If you hear a whining/whistling noise (should be amplified from normal driving) that's your problem. Hope this helps.

IF you are looking at your engine from the rear of the car, does it come from the upper right side?

There is a TSB to fix this (#4897, 1/05). Pressure relief valve in the power steering reservoir. I had it done last year.

how much did it cost you? I have the same problem and they say they have to replace the whole pump/res, parts alone are are $850. cant you just replace the valve?

exactly....same thing happened to me last year and was replaced under warranty.

i used to hear a whining sound, especially if i would drive in a close parking lot. It defntly has to do with the hydraulic resevoir.

Ours will be replaced under warranty as well during the 15k service. I'll let everyone know how it goes!

That's 100% what it is. I did indeed hold the revs at ~3200 for 30 seconds and let off-- only to hear the notorious whistle. This was several months ago too.

I had the issue. If you push the clutch in, the sound should stop. They'll fix it under warranty. Mine used to do it at the track and I thought I was loosing turbos ... really high pitched whine.

I have a copy of the service report, but I'm not at my office right now. If you send me a pm, I'll send you this later (tonight).
