X50 with Chip and Exhaust - 500whp feasible?

Am I being to optomistic to think an otherwise stock X50 with a chip and exhaust would get to 500whp?

Yes.
At the crank, not RWHP

No way it's at the crank. The X50 comes from the factory with 450 hp. That would mean the chip and exhaust only made an additional 50hp? At about $7,000 that's an expensive 50hp for a turbocharged car.

I could see maybe 550 at the crank but 500 seems too low.

An ECU upgrade and exhaust, with nothing else, will not get you to 500 RWHP, even with x50 turbos.

I thought you meant into the 500 plus range.
I would hope for 550hp

I have the same car and have the chip and exhaust and think it increases 65-75 crank hp, but only a dyno will tell you.

Keep in mind that a stock X50 already runs more boost than stock non-X50 (approximately .1 bar more boost). Therefore, when you reprogram the ECU and bump up the boost to 1.1-1.2 bar, the increase is less for the X50, as compared to the non-X50.

You can get close. Here is my car on 91 octane, GIAC chip, exhaust, evo intake and modified wastegate springs (or upgraded wastegates) underlined because it's crucial.

Anybody have any details between GIAC K24 programming vs UMW K24 programming on stock K24s assuming exhaust/DV/Wastegate Actuators/filters are the same?

Even with more mods (EVOMS intake and upgraded wastegates), you still did not reach 550 RWHP (although 516 RWHP is mighty impressive), thus proving my hypothesis that, with fewer mods, 550 RWHP is unlikely.

I doubt K24s can produce much more than 500 RWHP. Maybe 530 peak with race program on a good day. Even so, some of the more influential tinkerers here think that K24s are only good to 550 crank HP.

I can tell the original poster from experience that fine tuning the wastegates can have a very profound effect on boost (throttle) response, midrange torque and overall power.

Check with Vincentdds about the UMW k24 programming. He is the only one I can think of that dynoed the car and IIRC it was about 630 at the crank, but I have no idea what other mods were done to the car or type of dyno used. Kevin
