Video of Valve Springs Floating.....

Here is an interesting high speed video showing what happens when a valve spring is run over its design limit. This isnt a Porsche ,but is representative of a spring that cant cope with high RPM's. Makes you want to think twice about high RPM's on stock springs....Kevin

LOL....yes it is. We just received our custom valve springs and I was interested in seeing the issues with lesser springs. It isnt pretty! Kevin

How many times will a valve open and close at very high RPM? Say in one second, how often? Since that video is slow motion, I wonder how fast those are really moving.

Well, we are hoping to run close to 8500 rpms so that would be 8500/60sec= 171 revolutions per sec. The intake will open every second crank turn so 171/2= 85.5 valve actions per sec at 8500rpm's...I think that is correct ...Kinda scary when you think about it. Kevin

Kevin,

Thinking about it, I think the intake will open every 4th stroke, no?

GT3 Kid is infamous around these parts
If you look at the time the video isnt much longer then a second or two in real time. They slow it down so that it takes a minuet and 15 seconds
