I considered a Z06 when I was looking at 996tt's. I just thought I can always pickup a vette at a later date. Honestly if my vette went to **** It would be far less expensive to fix I just see to many many. In my industrial park alone there is 3 Z06's I am the only Porsche Turbo though. It will be interisting to see where they go with the brand. I hear far better things on the horizon It's good to be a car guy in this day and age. BTW if you ever get to mid ohio let me know I am 3 miles from the track.

If the problem does indeed turn out to be that the bolts that secure the gear to the intermediate shaft worked themselves loose, then you need to hound Porsche to swallow some or all of the cost to repair it. It will be a headache, but be polite, nice and thoughtful to the service manager and they may come through for you. Take the mechanics some cold soft drinks, show them how much you love your car and that you're not some a-hole who bought a P-car just for the image. Good luck buddy, I hope it works out good for you.

In my life I have realized one thing.... If you want something done you can only depend on yourself. Thats my number 1 rule. I am trying to get Porsche to own a bit. I just am not going to expect it. After all the days of people and companies being stand up have all but vanished. Not to many people do something for nothing if they are losing out of principle. I how ever know a couple Yeah I figured I would buy the service department and mechanics pizza

That really sucks, I hope everything works out for the best. I own a 996tt as well, but most of my years were spent modifying hondas and in these cars the intermediate shaft is an easy fix, again I feel for you and I agree that porsche should be covering some if not all of this...I mean the motor/tranny only has 16k miles that is NOTHING...
