997 wheels on a 996?

Have done a search and there are loads of wheel offset threads with loads of different values all over the place and being stupid I can't make head nor tail of it so asking the question again.

Will these wheels and offsets fit on a 2002 996TT?

Front 8.5J x 19 ET 53 - tire 235 35 19
Rear 12J x 19 ET 51 - tire 305 30 19

They are Porsche OEM wheels for a 997 GT3RS

Thanks
S

The offsets can probably be made to work but aren't the overall diameters of the 997 wheels larger by an inch? Not sure how much that will mess up your odometer, PSM, etc.

I know the tires are bigger, I have Conti 235/35/19 Fr & 315/25/19 Rr so the new tires will show me running 4% slow, so 60mph will be 62.4mph and 10,000 miles will be 10,400 miles. Not concerned about that, seeing as odometer to gps is normally slow anyway my odometer may actually be reading right for once, but if this will effect PSM then that could be an issue.
Does anyone know if a 4% wheel size error will effect PSM?

I wouldn't do it..........mainly cause I don't like the 997 wheels

Seriously...........my quick math says they'd have 3% differential (either diamr or circum)........seems I recall 3% was the gen rule you stay at-under. If so, you'd be at the edge of the envelope.

Offsets are too high for my liking also.....but could be 'doctored' with spacers......good luck.

Not sure, I like 'em still but if these black RS wheels would work I'll be getting rid yeah. I'll let ya know.

Doesn't sound like the RS wheels are gonna work though.

But, the RS wheels don't come with tires I have just realised so I can put 315/25/19 on the rears so the rolling circumference will be right, it's down to offset issues now.

What spacers will I need to get these to fit? Was thinking 2mm fronts and 5mm rears or would I need bigger rear spacers? 7mm maybe, then will 315 tires be sticking out of the arches.

Nothing less than 5 is even worth the trouble (IMHO).....I did quick math w/your 1st post and it looked like they could take 10mm for a relatively aggressive stance..........a shame to (permanantly) put spacers on any wheel....again, just my opin.

You should be good in the front...only 3mm different than stock but you are going half inch wider. Probably a 7-10MM (not sure which ones are avail) for the rear or else the added width may cause some clearance problems on the inside of the wheel well

PCNA says that the difference from OEM can't be more than 4% from factory and no more than 4% front to rear. The most common set up going from 18" to 19" is 235/35/19f and 315/25/19 rears. So far i've had no problems with this, however I'm concerned about lowering the car with this width.

No spacer needed for the front and the 235/315 will work fine.
Although the rears are 1" wider that stock, the offset is 7mm or 1/4" less agressive. This makes the RS wheel extend only 1/4" farther out than a stock 996tt wheel. The inner portion of the RS also extends closer to the body, so if you encounter any clearance issues a 7mm spacer will correct the issue. With a 7mm spacer, the RS rears will have the same offset as a GT2 wheel.

Deal or no deal?

Thanks folks for the comments and advice, think I may go for these.
Last question I can get this set of 4 997 GT3 RS black wheels with Black & Orange RS centre caps (I'll black out the RS bit seeing as I don't have an RS) still in the boxes, Porsche OEM, never put on a car, no tires, $4400 shipped.

Does that sound like a good deal? The guy says they were $5900 new. He ordered them to go on a 997 GT3 which he is now selling.

I guess it is a matter of how much you want them

Sounds like a good deal if they are brand new...I bought the 996 GT3 wheels and they were about $5k for the set in the Turbo offset.

You may want to check some of the board sponsored dealers or some of the "discount " porsche parts dealers. I was qouted around $3300 for a set from Brandywine on 3/28.

BTW- These are cast wheels and are a little heavy!
