Decided to regear/intake/intercooler
Decided to regear/intake/intercooler
I have decided to regear transmission (3rd, 4th 5th and 6th), GT2 intercoolers and intake plenum. I feel that this is the next step.
Current mods are as follows:
k24's
GIAC stage 4
Hollow cats
FVD exhaust
Lightweight Flywheel
H. Performance clutch
I know that if I regear, I will lose top end.
Any suggestions or comments on the new mods before I do them?

Orli930,
3rd gear 1.474
4th gear 1.174
5th gear 0.968
6th gear 0.821
Don't forget about going to steel syncro's also.
Brian Copan is the best in the business with tranny's. He does most of the big Porsche race team tranny's. That is all he does is Porsche tranny's.

The intercoolers would be GT2
Intake, I was thinking the same as your car (S Car Go), or FVD has just developed a new one that will be in the states this week.
Chad, these gears are the ratios you recommend, like I stated before I dont care sacrificing top end but I want car to pull hard in every gear.
As long as I get to 150 fast thats fine with me.

Orli930,
The following numbers are @ 7000 rpm's.
3rd stock 107.2 mph
4th stock 135.0 mph
5th stock 182.7 mph
6th stock 201.5 mph
The modified ratio's I gave above
3rd modified 102.4 mph
4th modified 131.3 mph
5th modified 160.0 mph
6th modified 187.0 mph
If you call Guard Transmission and give him your tire size and redline, he will fax you a graph which also shows what rpm range you will be in after you shift. This is very important as you want to be in your "sweet spot" according to your dyno sheet. The above numbers are using a 25.4 inch OD tires in the rear.
If you are going through the money to remove the tranny and open it up I would do 1st and 2nd along with the steel syncro's and skip the intercoolers for now. Done correctly, your power will feel like you have another 50-60 hp.
I can give you Brian's number tomorrow if you are interested. He lives somewhere in the midwest.

The intake is the best part Scargo makes. It is good for about 20-25 hp plus added torque. Stephen just put one on his car and it really made a difference. Give him a call. More air, cooler air and less weight.
Depending on how much power you are running, I would change first and second. You need to make them longer. First should be a 3.50-1 or 3.16-1 ratio. Currently, at redline stock first is good for about 37 mph. It sould be 44-50 mph based on the power you are currently producing. First is currently 3.86-1 ratio.
