First drag pass in Protomotive GT2
First drag pass in Protomotive GT2
I took a long lunch today and drove over to Norwalk as a last minute invite to a track rental. I am embarrassed to admit I've never drag raced any car before....although I enjoy the occasional street race here and there.
I made one pass on drag radials at 1.4 bar. I just rolled out at 2300 rpm's so don't make fun of the 60 ft.
Driven by a more experienced drag racer, this car has a 10 in it for sure. Joe consider yourself safe for the time being.
The time below is perfectly representative of what nearly any driver could do with a full weight GT3076 GT2 on a 75 degree day with little to no track prep. Below is the slip:

Jamie..nice mph by the way.One observation is my 1/8 mph and 1/4 mph are both faster but yet your car is quicker 60-130 than mine.It probably has to do with the head work on my car(For some reason it doesn't like anything under 65mph in 3rd gear but pulls like a **** in fourth....and runs pretty much the same times whether one or two shifts)moving the power up in the rpm.Nice pass Jamie-it is a 10 second car for sure.......Well atleast if I was driving it

Congrats man. Don't pay too much attention to the et. You should be happy with your trapspeed. As stated before me, the trap would put you in the 10's no problem. Hustle the car down track a little harder next time and it will be your first sub 11-sec pass.
Very nice work.... 17", MT drag radials, etc. and ur a mid 10 or better depending on who drives it.

If launched properly Jamies car should run close to a 10.5.
Personally, I feel the car is way too valuable (and not really designed for it the first place) to subject to the the stress of a quarter mile.
I was close to dropping 20K on my G35 and turning it into a low 10 second 1/4 mile car (w/ nitrous) but I didn't get the sponsorship I needed (it was a 30 K job). Of course Supras (if you can maximize the power band) also make good 1/4 mile cars.
Sinking 50-70 K into a 1/4 mile car is one thing but personally, I don't want to drag race a 200K car.
Glad that Mark and Jamie are willing to do it for me.

Sean,
You don't have to launch hard at all. Have you ever seen my 10.6 pass? I only launched a little over 4k rpm and quickly slipped the clutch. It put almost no stress on the car whatsoever:

Jaime congrats...nothing like running your first pass at Norwalk, that is one of the finest facilities around. It is a VERY fast track and is prepped the whole track length even for the test and tune days. Great trap and please stop inflating Joe's ego
