Track Camera Mount question....
Track Camera Mount question....
So for you guys that track your cars, what camera do you use? I have the I/O Port Racing mount and just bought a new Canon HV20 Camera and I'm less than happy with the results. The vibration is horrible.
Yes I have image stabilization on... mucked with the AF settings you name it... still looks horrible. Curious what camera you guys are using and any help that can be provided with the setup.
My setup in car is on the Techquipment bar with cross brace. As for settings on the camera... every damn thing you can thing of. Even called Canon and they were less than helpful....
Thanks in advance,

I considered buying a HV20 but due to picture quality issues like you described (when used as a helmetcam for instance) I decided not to get one. From what I have been able to find online, the issue is with the floating lens element that Canon uses for image stabilization.

Here's the one I use.

I also bought a lipstick cam and mic, affixed it to the mount and stuck it to the windshield. The lipstick cam is then connected to your camcorder which you can secure anywhere. With me, that's behind the seat. The effect is that you have a much smaller mass on the windshield than you would with a camcorder. Not sure if this is allowed on all events, but the DEs I've done did not have a problem with it.
