Help: Wheels Ruined by Spray Cleaner?

Picked my car up from the body shop and noticed a cloudy film on the chrome lip. Seems like they speyed it with a harsh cleaner. Any advice on something that could restore them? Thanks

Have the lip polished out with a high-powered rotory tool and some Mother's aluminum cleaner.

yup sounds like it was an acid based cleaner, you need a citric based cleaner which is far safer on your wheels. I use virosol which is citrus based and is great!

Are you sure the lips are chrome? They are probably polished and this happens when using acid on raw aluminum.....chrome shouldn't do that.Nothing a little mother's and some elbow grease can't fix.

not unless it's clear-coated then you'll have a bit of more headaches, cuz cleaner attacked the plastic clearcoat, if your polished, then just elbow grease

yep, same thing happened to me, but it was the dealer that did it. i tried a few things and nothing works. long story short, i'm going to be partially reinbursed for new lips. PITA, but the cloudiness is just unbearable.

Which car? If it was the E55 you may be out of luck. The same thing happened to me on my CLS 500. I had to buy new rims!!!!!!
