First gear runs out before 60'
I was told by a pretty knowledgable guy (who does 996TT tranny work for race cars) that installing a taller first gear will make a 996TT slower to 60 mph, but faster to 100 mph and above.

My ex- sequential 6 spd gearbox used to have a 64mph 1st gear, it was a complete dog off-the-line. A 3.15 will do a good job but not worth the money since you have to change the input shaft (at least on the 993).
Craig, I think this might be related to RPM drops between gears, but that depends on what sort of second gear you have, The biggest RPM drop on these gearboxes (stock) is between 1st and 2nd, therefore a gearbox with taller first and modified second, can reduce those RPM drops and improve 0-100mph, but that needs to be specifically built like that I believe, I can check it out back at home.
